Hi folks
So much has happened over the last fortnight, I don’t know where to start – I have had a male move in – yes I know… I know… I swore I’d never do it, and even more madly we have only just met, but he’s won me round and we have had a fabulous first week together – I’ll tell you more at the end….
It was a particularly hard week at work – it’s a whole month since I got back from New Zealand, and to rub salt in the wounds the gloating postcard I sent to my work colleagues finally arrived – of course it didn’t have the impact I’d hoped for since I was also there to receive the big size ‘Sheep grinning’ postcard saying “I’m here and you’re there!”… Mind you it has spurred me into finally sorting the NZ shots out – should be on the Blog next week latest.
The Chateau Impney carvery with Numpts and Dave was fab – boy did I put it away! I was lucky – I had a little stretchy black number on – whereas the rest of the guys were in their mess kit – shame…..buttons straining all over the place…. I caught up with Heather (at last) too last weekend and had a girlie sleepover, with Pat & Hils there too - which may explain why I’ve been a wet blanket all this week – one night out and it takes me a week to recover! Heather provided the healthy first course, and I ruined it with my famous’ Tiramisu – mind you I’d used low fat mascarpone and organic coffee to bolster the quarter bottle of Amaretto :-D I’m sure that was the reason for my delicate head on Sunday morning – which didn’t bode well for picking Dennis up to come and live with me, but it’s good that he has seen me at my worst already!
So… come Monday I rise blearily for work, and wander over to my garage and was shocked to find the car had gone….and then there was that embarrassing dawning realisation that I hadn’t put it in there after the heavy weekend….. I’d walked past the car on my drive (must’ve been in my blind spot) and crossed the road to the garage….. needless to say the neighbours have found it highly amusing – and Easton next door even sent me a text the night after to let me know where my car was so I wouldn’t miss it the next morning – har har!!
Anyway, more about Dennis….we only met a couple of weeks ago, and I was feeling a bit pressurised and needed time to think about it properly because it’s quite a big step for me – with my independence and everything, but he was forced to move out when his previous landlady became ill, so I offered to make room. He’s eating me out of house and home – I’m not used to having to look after two. Fortunately, he’s fully house trained ;-) and he’s ginger!!!! Yes, yes I know… I can hardly believe it – but it’s dark so quite handsome… but then I’m biased. He’s quite stocky, so consequently when he sits on my lap my legs go to sleep!! He’s 32 years old (which in cat years is around 4 I believe?), and so far touch wood, we are getting on OK.
As a PS, just to say I should’ve known better than to take the pee out of Sarah’s new babe’s name – Flynn… she is rather miffed as any new mum would be I guess :-/…and now I can't bring myself to reassure her that it is probably better than Damien…. or John Thomas…. Or Gromit………. Mind you I read in the papers about a couple who made a bit of a howler when they called their newborn son ‘Drew’ and their surname was Peacock…. Just keep saying it together slowly………..got to larf haven’t you…….says she who has a cat called Dennis, and has lived with a dog’s name all her life….. :-D
Anyway, I’m heading off downstairs cos he’s calling me.
Have a great weekend – I gather there’s a storm coming in so I better batten the cat flap down!!
Kim x
