TGIFs Oct - Dec 06 :-)

TGIF :-) 061006

Hi Friday peops

Bit late tonight cos had a girlie night in with Sarah - too soggy for walking out there isn't it? Apparently a Tropical trade wind or something like that - which is what I've blamed in the office all week - I blame the diet - and gym - it's shaking everything about too much - I'm not at all sociable right now - so glad there's not a man on the scene - the joys of windy singledom ;-)
Anyway the Titty thing reservoir ramble last Sunday was good - in case you're wondering - yeah of course you are - and this sad rambler managed at last to get into her fancy Crag Hopper rambling trews cos of the gym toning the saggy bits up - so that was good. This weekend I'm rambling with Steve - and we're off to the World Conker Championships - we know how to live!
Last weekend wasn't all good tho - cos when I was cooking my chicken for my ramble baps - I got it out of the microwave and lifted the lid and - BANG - the bloody thing exploded - which is not the best thing when you have wanged a load of basil pesto in - green gunk all over me and the kitchen, and chunks of chicken dropping from the ceiling. Luckily the microwave is right above the washing machine - so hope the neighbours didn't see me getting stripped off and shoving all my clothes straight in! (They'd probably just think another normal day in the 'Kim Kitchen'......) Anyway - what I didn't notice until Monday was the shape of the small burn on my right cheek - it was like a chicken footprint - or a 'V' - like a subliminal message - become a Veeeeegetaaaaariaaaaaan......! Everyone has been very polite and not commented - but luckily the scab has fallen off now - somewhere.....I think on the treadmill at gym :-)
Went to see 'Hoodwinked' with my mate Sue - very giggly escapism - just what you need when the news is such pooh at the moment.
Had another day let loose on the wards - and they left me to look after a lady with short term memory loss - now that was a salutary lesson in patience.. poor lady - like the blind leading the blind.... Me -"So, do you want a shower or a bath?" "Have I had one?" Me - "No, I don't think so"... (no-one round to ask)... Me - "Never mind wont hurt having another..." "What do I need?" Me - "What do you normally use?" "I don't remember" Me -"Let's take these... " "Where are we going?" Me -"To the shower" "Is it this way?" Me -"I don't know it's my first day..." That was pretty much the type of chat we had for the rest of the day, but we both enjoyed ourselves - and that's exactly what she wrote in her diary :-)
And on that note, I'll leave you..... I'll bet you can't wait to hear about the conkers!!!

Have a good 'un!

H i Friday peops

I know you're just dying to know about the World Conker Championshiops last Sunday in Ashton - I didn't enter - otherwise I'd have conkered them all - but it was great fun watching - commentator was really funny - beer in one hand - microphone in the other..."OOOH It's a SNAG.... and OOOHH! A 'SELF-DESTRUCT" I was stood between two tall 'Martins' and every time the TV camera turned our way we ducked! Sarah gave me a load of conkers out of her garden after our walk on Saturday so I took them along and we had our own mini championship by the River Nene - all rather English....
On Tuesday 4 of us from work went to see a colleague Phil in an Am Dram production of 'Meet me in St Louis' - for those of you who don't know the storyline, and want to know... in a nutshell the Smith family live in and love St Louis, and Mr Smith gets offered a job in New York but he doesn't go............. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Fortunately Phil has great presence on the stage - but the microphones were crackling and popping so some of the characters sounded like Norman Collier - but you have to be so careful at these productions cos you're surrounded by the entire cast's family and friends in the audience!
I'm off to the Country Girl in a bit to meet Lucy n Amanda - from a former work life - girlie catch up - then tomorrow off to Gloucester bimbling and on Sunday the old uns are taking me to Hatton - niiiice :-)

Have a fab weekend :-)

Hi Friday peops

Another week absorbed by the gym attendances to redistribute the lardy bits to places I didn't know I had.... still... it's something to do! They give you a sticky wristband - just like a hospital ID - so far I've lost at least 2 in between the changing room and the gym - and today caused havoc at the reception cos I got stuck to loads of leaflets on the desk advertising the various classes - I wonder if they do one on how to stick your own 'GYM' label on your wrist using one hand??

Lovely Friday chill out with Loos and Amanda - it was lovely catching up with them both after a gap - both fresh faced 25 year olds - who will go far - I'm only nurturing them so I can be a 'James Bond' style PA to them - when I'm more mature - Kimmie Moneypenny.... :-)

Went to the flicks with Sue to see 'The Devil wears Prada' - didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped - maybe it was a bit near the knuckle with Meryl Streep being the bullying nasty Boss - and I so wish she'd got her come uppance - some good one liners - but all that designer label stuff is lost on the likes of me - I remember working with nurses working for the private sector who were always trying to outdo each other with their 'designer label' bags and stuff - get a life eh? Says she who buys designer rambling gear... aaah shaddap!! Mind you - me 'Brashers let me down last week on a bimble with Steve - I was very soggy at the end - with mild trench foot - nice... so off to get some new designer boots tomorrow....

I'm off to soak me bones in Droitwich Brine pool on Sunday - ready for the gym on Monday! :-)

Have a fabbo weekend :-)

TGIF :-) 271006

Hi Friday peops Had a nice float in the Brine pool last Sunday - so I suppose it was my own fault for starting the week floating.... mind you also had lovely sunset walk round Earlswood lakes with Sarah, and a little attempt at dowsing - Sarah has a pendulum and was showing me how to recognise "Yes" and "No" and I should've known the week ahead was going to be a challenge when my Dowser decided to be indecisive...... who else would have an indecisive dowser!!

Me n Sue decided to go last minute to see 'Barnyard' using our 'Orange Wednesday' mobile option - but we are becoming such good connoisseurs of cartoons that we decided that 'Hoodwinked' still has the edge for storyline - though we were as usual giggling at things that no one else was giggling at - we must be the oldest cartoon swingers in town!

Had a pooh day on the wards yesterday - can't say too much without News of the World getting hold of it - but let's just say the patients were more helpful than the staff and maybe it is a good idea to find out now about private health insurance! NHS = National Horror Service..... so thank goodness I was able to shimmy it away in a belly dancing class last night... needless to say instead of looking sexy and sultry I looked like a geyser using a pneumatic drill - and my belly muscles wouldn't do what they were being told to do - but I laughed so much that my belly ached this morning!
Is it me - or is it really hard to judge the pressure you have to put on the petrol pump dispensers so you have to hold them so gently otherwise they click off so you are trying to fill up but standing there going click click click..... yup - I'm in a stroppier mood than usual this Friday and wasn't going to share it but then you know what they say - a trouble shared....... Off this weekend to see Alex in concert at the Warwick Art centre with mom - if she's recovered from the flu? See ya there Alex x It's also Rob's birthday today - so Happy Birthday to him.... but I'm a bit like Loyde and am often months out with birthdays - but I figure if you wish someone happy birthday once a year you've a 1:365 chance of guessing the right day - and them odds are better than the lottery :-) Kimminie x

Hi Friday peops

4 minutes to go - before it'd have to be a TGIS! Just got back from seeing Beauty and the Beast - Alex -that'd be 'Beauty and the Beef' ;-) - at the Hippodrome with Sarah n Cathy - excellent costumes - great fun and very colourful - but ooooh!!!! ...no wonder today's kids are getting fatter - all you could hear in the audience was the distant rustle of sweet papers - unbelievable - and poor little 'FAT' Princesses in the audience dressed up as 'Belle' and looking more like the bloody biggest 'BELL' in Big Ben - they could hardly climb the stairs huffing and puffing carrying their choc ices and sweets!

Sunday afternoon - me n mom saw the lovely Alex leading the violins of the Junior CBSO at Warwick Arts Centre - with Stravinsky - very nice - very soothing way to mellow you into a Monday.......... she wasn't officially lead violin - but in our eyes she was.

Tuesday - Helped out at a Cheese and wine 'do' - drank too much - and ate nearly a pound of cheese and wondered why I dreamed of me being a Bishop in a Chess game, and being knocked off the board by a Kangaroo?

Wednesday - poshed it up with Sarah at Debenhams - one of those girlie nights when you can get pampered to lull you into a false sense of security so you end up buying make up you don't need etc! Fortunately because I am so naturally gorgeous I didn't succumb...

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - neighbour Easton round to fix the telly that the Cable man "broke" when putting new Cable Box in - think we have tried every which way but loose and every variation on connections - so much so that I think we picked up alien Tingha & Tucker from the planet Zog when trying to tune in the TV upstairs - when TV upstairs worked, TV downstairs was crap - you're getting the drift there - needless to say haven't needed so much time at the gym as running up and downstairs - trying to choose which one of the several remotes to use for Video/Cable/TV/DVD upstairs/downstairs. He's moving in tomorrow - and is determined to crack it - it's a 'man' thing.

Have a good un

Hi Friday peops
I've had a fretful week - and tho I know I try and keep these things positive - today I'm not feeling too happy when I reflect back on the week I'm feeling decidedly crabby.
Yesterday at work was one of the horibbilist (my new word) for a while. Some nerd keeps putting a small widget in a big hole - which means that we may hoist a patient to the ceiling only to find the little widget slips out and so does the patient...... just because (and why I suspect it's a man is only understood by us girls....) some nerd thinks it's OK to wiggle a little widget in a big hole, when us girls know full well when it's a big hole only a big widget fits. We had other stuff going down too - the office was like a market - little huddles of staff trooping in to share their latest widget problems! It was weird because David Attenborough's new 'Planet Earth' was still fresh in my mind - and all I could think about was how it was like 'March of the Penguins' - with them all sort of shuffling in and spinning round in a huddle squeaking and drifting out again before the next little troop came in....
I should've known the week wasn't going to be the best - it started with a shell shock - literally - as I invited the old uns round last Sunday for dinner and decided to do something with seafood - so I bought three whole crabs from Lidl - well, it was a special offer - I couldn't resist... anyway, as I cut the vacuum pack and slid them out, they made me leap cos their claws were moving and they looked like they were still alive - and so I was trying to pull their legs off and leaping back and dropping legs - there were claws flying everywhere...... shan't be doing that again - it'll be John West's best - no wonder the stuff is expensive - what a pain - mind you it was fun using my nutcracker to try and get the last remnants out of the shell - dad was in his element!!
As the song says, things can only get better.................. maybe if I have a 'skinful' - get it?........
Have a good un folks

Hi Friday peops

Had a nice chilled weekend - bimbling in Stratford Upon Avon on Saturday and slobbing out on Sunday watching telly and doing girlie cross stitch - so decided must go the gym twice this week - but it's still sooooooo boring... so I have a new game at the gym - picture the mirrors everywhere and equipment so close to each other that you are practically rubbing up against each other - so I've been doing the old eye contact thing and smiling and starting conversations - soooo funny - how polite people are when they think you are 'special needs' and out on community leave or something, and how quickly they move leaving you more space to work out!

Went back to work on Monday all refreshed - and as we know things happen for a reason - open the first e-mail - and it's from a General Manager who says they were "disturbed" at the way I handle things - so I figure maybe 'dur' management were at the gym and saw me? Am I bovered? Face? Bovered? :-D

Did my clinical shift this week and had so much fun with the patients - amazing how resilient some are in the face of such awful circumstances - I got told to Feck off to Papua New Guinea by one??!? but the rest were really lovely - and whether they can tell I'm doing my best and have just got used to me being around...who knows - but they rallied and stuck together and looked after me more than I looked after them - so that was a really humbling experience.

Went to see 'Step Up' with Sue - who is purely attention seeking now and dragging her cold out for as long as she can - we really enjoyed it - we like movies which end happily ever after.... especially when the lead blokey has nice buns too....

Life is back to 'normality' for me as "I'm a Celebrity... get me outta here" is back on so there are nightly text frenzies again between three addicts - me, mom and Numpty. Sarah popped round tonight too - caught me in my slobbing out mode - but girlies together is no problem is it?

I'm being sent to Coventry for 4 days next week to learn how to manage 'conflict' in the NHS - so folks, that's where your taxes are going - but I promise I'll come back a better person, and free of any conflict.

Charlie - I hadn't forgotten your birthday - sorry - hope it was a good un - I have a small token - so we must meet up and exchange it with your pendulum!

Since I am a bit out of pocket due to my gas and electric company taking a £400 catch up payment....I thought I rather liked the joke that Vanessa sent today -
cheers Ness

Have a good weekend folks

Commenting on a complaint from a Mr. Arthur Prudery about a large gas bill, a spokesman for North West Gas said, "We agree it was rather high for the time of year. It's possible Mr. Prudery has been charged for the gas used up during the explosion that destroyed his house." (The Daily Telegraph)

Hi Friday peops

Lovely time last Sunday at B'ham Tattoo - NIA - the Ghurkhas were there - and since Rohini and Chris haven't mentioned bringing me one back from Nepal - what else could I do but make an excuse and take the old uns to see them marching and playing - fablious. Really stirring - with the finale being the massed bands filling the arena playing that lovely tune which is played in the Last of the Mohicans - real rousing stuff - I do love my Indians as some of you know :-)
Then in stark contrast I wasted your taxes on a four day course for the NHS in Coventry - I learned such a lot - like never ever go to Coventry on your own - do you know they have tannoys telling the people on the street what to do if they see you stepping out of line - yay - made Birmingham look like a Cotswolds village!!
The tutor was from Zummerzett or Bristol - somewhere that way - lots of rolling R's - and pretty much an R's! Fortunately the other 6 people there were human - well 3 of them anyway if I'm honest.....
So back to normality - and normality at the moment for me is that I'm receiving Video calls from a complete dick - yes - you read it right - he's taken nearly three weeks to perfect getting the pixels right so I can now see his knob - which wasn't a pleasant experience as I was just about to tuck into my chicken goujons at Nando's in Tannoy Land with my fellow NHS colleagues! I've had some really helpful advice from Orange and the police - who know where it is coming from - the Orange people asked today whether I recognised him - and whilst I accept I've had my moments..... even I wouldn't recognise half the knobs I've been out with - but fortunately I'm being helped by a local cop called PC Bytheway, and by the way.... I'm hoping that I may be called to a police line up soon - to see if I can recognise the perpetrator........ gorra larf!!!!!!!!

Off to Batsford for a bimble this blowy weekend - hope yours is safe and smiley

Hi Friday peops
Yes I know it's a day late - I've already been told off. Couple of reasons - my PC is on a go slow and so am I!! Went to the gym last night and Pasquale has upped my game - so the only thing that is moving with any fluidity this morning are the two fingers I am using to type this out! I am not losing any weight y'see - just tightening up all my wobbly bits - my bum is getting a J-Lo look about it and soon I will be able to have friends round and use it as a picnic table.....
Last weekend went walking with SPICE in the Cotswolds - very nice day - sunny, blowy and dry - so all rosy on Monday for work... which has been quite hectic this week - but we usually start the Christmas wind down on December 1st - such is the pace...... had a bit of a 'faux pas' happen this week - and it helped release a few much needed endorphins.... we are being forced into much more bureaucracy - yet again - around protecting children - and so we have devised a form for parents to complete asking for all sorts of information like 'Was the father around at the time of the birth.... and other embarrassing things - you feel like asking - well, was he around at the conception - to be honest in this day and age, I don't think many of the mums would know?! The faux pas is slightly delicate in nature, and due to proximity of keys on the keyboard is still causing a lot of stifled giggling - the ethnic origin is sought and it asks: Please circle the appropriate:A) WHITE (1) BRITISH (2 )IRISH (3) ANY OTHER SHITE BACKGROUND
Other worky news is that one of our staff members Florence is going home to Cape Town - so that's another TGIF member on the move - they're all over at the mo - NZ, Nepal, Ecuador and now South Africa - fab! Keep in touch Floribunda!
Fab news this week - Alex has been accepted into two places for music next year - Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Birmingham Conservatoire - think she'll be staying in Brum - so well done Alex :-)
Have a great weekend - batten down the hatches in UK!

TGIF :-) 081206

Hiya Friday peops
Hectic week - work has flown again - went to typical NHS study workshop on Monday which should have been cancelled as they were pre-empting something that was supposed to have been published by the Department of Health and it wasn't, but they still went ahead with the study day (doh!?) - and we wonder why the NHS is running out of money??
Last Sunday night met a guy off the dating site and chose to go to a quiet pub - and there was a pub quiz on - and there were 40 questions - all of which were repeated twice - very loudly on a whistly microphone - and in between each question we were trying to blurt out a bit of conversation, and the quiz was more interesting so I got a bit distracted - and made me realise Heather & Clive that I have missed our Sunday night pub quiz Google cheating :-)
This week I have met another one - who is much more promising - all his own teeth and a full head of hair - however I chose a local organic restaurant for lunch - and lo and behold he managed to find another hair - neatly deposited on his organic mushrooms - so guess I'm not having much luck around dating - but it's keeping me amused.
Met up with Loz & Wendy for a girlie catch up and scoff!
I'm waiting for Sue right now to text me and we're off to Castleton YHA for a walk with Gary tomorrow - and yes - the new boy wants to see me again on Sunday - glutton for punishment!
Have a good un folks :-)

TGIF :-) 151206

Hi Friday peops. Only nine days till Santa fills my stockings - mind you I haven't been a good girl all this year so maybe I'll be left waiting....
Monday -helped Sarah download her beautiful Slovenia wedding photos onto a CD - while it was howling a gale outside - looking at all those sunny Cinderella type shots was quite therapeutic for me - not so for Sarah who discovered that unlike Cinderella who just left a shoe, I'd left a trail of muddy footprints all the way through and up the stairs...............maybe Sarah, I was just trying to make it easier for Prince Charming to find me?

Tuesday - SPICE Christmas wine tasting competition - I wonder how Gary the solicitor got on the next day defending his client on drink driving? Our table won - helped along by me winning the speed drinking competition....I was a little worse for wear the following day... and last night was the SPICE Christmas do with Sue - to which I'd invited along Ray & Jax - and all I can say is sorry both for it turning into a Chav Christmas bash. We did have a bit of a giggle and bop so all was not lost - there was a Tina Turn-off singer, most of the food was delivered into various laps, the disco smoke effects weren't effects - it was from the 10 fags the Chavs had in between every course, or should that be coarse, the ladies loos had been well chavved by midnight - no loo seats or loo paper left, miniatures strewn in the basins, hair extensions and sequins all over the place... and the Vicky Pollards had climbed over most of the loo cubicles and locked them from the inside - how very dare they :-) To give you some idea of how bad they were folks, if I say they made me look posh,...............now you're getting the picture!!!!

Heard a few funny stories about nativity plays at work - various people have been off watching their kiddlings and grand kiddlings - apparently in one they mentioned getting lost and not following the star but using their Tom Tom Sat Nav! In the news this week it did mention about Crimbo becoming more Chavvy - they weren't wrong were they? I'm pretty much done for Crimbo - just churned out the annual newsletter - and am going to sit and do my cards tonight. Off to Leamington for a bimble on Sunday and a second Christmas meal........ Ho Ho Ho and all that! Have a good weekend folks

TGIF :-) Ho Ho Ho 221206

Hiya Friday peops
The last TGIF of the year - as I shall be on my way to Borrowdale for the next one - I hear a collective "pheeeeeew" around the globe :-)
It's a sure sign of Christmas rapidly approaching - I have already gained 3lb with all the mince pies - and three 'Christmas meals' - PLUS I have a festive froat and am doing a good impression of Rudolph - oh the joys of a viral Christmas - which has curtailed my mucus membrane mistletoe moments somewhat - but am I bovered....?
I decided to start to get into the festive spirit last weekend by going for a 'Christmassy themed' ramble - gentle stroll though the quagmire around Leamington Spa and on to the pub for a festive feast of lamb - at least that's what I ordered - and after a lengthy debate about the anaemic looking lamb which was in fact pork - with the waitresses who said the chef was insistent it was lamb, there was a reluctant U turn - and they agreed it was pig on my plate - think he felt a bit sheepish about his mistake..... but fancy!!!!!

The next festive meal was an afternoon away from the NHS - and it survived - with the 'team' do - Italian - very nice. We were told this year by the NHS top dogs that we wouldn't be allowed our complimentary afternoon off shopping as it would cost the entire NHS £100,000 and that would pay for 7 nurses - bummer really - but most of us do our shopping on the Internet during work time anyway - so all's well......kidding....
I've got mater and pater coming round for Christmas day - and we have a surprise menu - which I will divulge in my new year TGIF, as (some of you maybe know...) they are on the TGIF list.....although the main course wont be a surprise because mom has already got the leg of lamb - well... that was what I asked for anyway......
So, I'll sign off now - hope you all have a relaxing and fun time over Christmas - especially Issie - hope the new fridge arrives OK tomorrow.... and hope all you folk in warmer climes - NZ - hi both mums and my Kiwi babes & Sammy Nurse, SA - Floribunda, Nepal - Ro & Chris, Ecuador - Paula, US - thanks Lee for making dad's Crimbo again with a phone call - & Hertfordshire - hi Owen ;-) & Wassup - are you home or in a war zone? - have a fabulous time - we are fog bound in the UK - so none of us are leaving - we all have to stay at home this Christmas whether we like it or not - and that is probably why Sainsburys have run out of sprouts already!
Take care now - see you in 2007 - Kimmie luvs ya xxxx
