TGIF :-) 260107

Hi Friday peops

Well some of you have looked at my Blog – and like the photos :-) so I’ll carry on posting the TGIFs there – and more snaps.

Thank goodness for my thermal Bridgets – it’s freezing over here at the mo - went for a walk last Sunday up on Cannock Chase with Stevey B (Tracks n Trips) I tell you that cold wind certainly speeds you up – no kidding – we started at 1030 and 10 miles later we finished and it was only 14.30!! Nice tho’… lots of pub time…. Defeats the ol’ fitness thing tho really – cream laden hot chocolate and a bag of crisps :-?

Those of you who have managed to catch ‘Five Days’ on BBC 1 – hasn’t it been brill? Full of twists and turns and coincidences – and Michelle is great as ‘Tops’ – so I bet Mags, Chris and Clare are dead proud watching. It concludes next week – Tues & Thurs at 9pm - the last two episodes - can't wait!

Some of you are asking about my love life zzzzzzzz – the only (bit of) blokey I’m seeing at the moment are the rude video messages which are still coming thru on my mobile –.and yes Amanda the offer of the lamb tailing docking tongy things will be welcome when PC Bytheway brings him cuffed to my door! You’d think he’d be bored by now… so I’m not seeing any-real-body - I’m still on Dating website tho only seem to be attracting the weird and wonderful. The last one (ol’ lardy arse) who Gary had the pleasure of meeting at the wine tasting has changed his profile write-up after having a traumatic life changing experience – ie going out with me –
;-) and he has changed it to “Things that don’t work for me….common (he hates the Brummie accent – are we bovered?), couch potato (Well my couch is comfy - thankyou DFS!), large or fuller size (helloooo lardy arse get a mirror….?), prefer quiet clean atmosphere to eat or drink (I mean… it was one solitary hair – and it was blonde and organic!)….if the TV is the forefront of your life (Reality TV is often more satisfying and definitely more real than the blokeys I seem to meet?).” Bless!! Each time I hear the No. 1 song over here at the mo – which is ‘Grace Kelly’ by the gorgeous Mika I end up with a big smile and howling along as I did in Sainsburys today – there’s a crescendo line which he sings with gusto “Why don’t you like me?” …. Listen to the words on the Youtube link … So… lardy arse, why couldn’t you be real or more like Mika? Kerchiiiing! ;-D

Off to Sharpie’s for a girlie sleepover – to celebrate her 39th birthday (again!) – this must be about the 15th time now? Who knows Mobi Dick may call – and we can all see his ‘bit’ – might be better than SKY TV! Picture three middle aged women all developing long sight trying to see my mobile Nokia screen!!!

Hope you all have a good ‘un

Hi Friday peops
Gloomy news, Dicky news and 'MUST SEE' Television viewing news!!
I'll get the gloomy news out of the way first. We're all a bit sad cos my Auntie Joyce (dad's sister) died this week - a blessing really cos she's had loads of mini strokes which made her into a moany ol' bugger! We'll remember her for the fun family get togethers we used to have up in Bromsgrove when my dad's cousin Cath was still alive too - and we'd have a real laugh! My poor ol' scouser Uncle Bob is pretty cut up - but has been whisked off to my cousin's incognito address (and phone-wise due to her errant son's wayward activities), and luckily has had already arranged for him to sell his house and split the profit between her and her sis - who is eagerly waiting the windfall in New Zealand apparently - happy families eh!
So, moving swiftly on..... the net is apparently closing in on my naughty video caller - yes - I've nicknamed him 'Mobi' Dick' for obvious reasons :-)
Picture two policeman - one of them 'Bytheway' if you remember... and a pretty cute ginger one who was there I think to chaperone and protect him by the way....asking me all sorts of questions to get more details... but after a few faux pas comments from me like "It must be really hard to do it..." meaning technically of course...and commenting on the "lengths he is going to ...." to send me pics of his willy, the cute ginger one was not doing very well suppressing his giggle - and so it went on... and it got worse when I asked if they wanted another cup of tea and cutie asked for a cold drink - squash or something he said - and when I went to the kitchen - and he followed - all I'd got in the way of squash was ginger!!! He declined saying it would be like cannibalism!! But joking aside, as mom pointed out, at least it is all coming to a climax - yes - honestly - that's what she said! Anyway he wont be a free willy for much longer hopefully.....
Remember I told you about my mom's chav neighbours kids trying to knock the new gorgeous railings mom and dad have had put in at the front, well I thought I'd let you know that the violent storms of yesterday blew down all of their back garden fence - oh dear what a shame..... and PC Bytheway had been dealing with my mom's ASBO problems too.... bless we're keeping him busy....
Finally, remember BBC's Midsummer Night's Dream in 2005 - with Johnny Vegas as Bottom and my friend Maggie's daughter Michelle Bonnard as the beautiful Helena - well Michelle is in a new drama next week on BBC1 starting Jan 23 called Five days - it is on every night at 9pm from Jan 23rd - and also has Sarah Smart (who is fab) and Hugh Bonneville and Edward Woodward! She plays a police press officer - Defne Topcu ("Tops") - anyway it's apparently "gripping" and in my humble opinion a darn sight better than the Big Brother sad trash that is being pumped out at the moment - so I'll be there. Do a Google for 'Michelle Bonnard' + Five days!
Happy Birthday for Monday Sharpie - it's your 40th isn't it?
Have a fab weekend folks - I'm off to windswept Cannock Chase to be blown inside out again!

TGIF :-) 130107

Hi Friday peops
Well that bloody 'poorly bug' didn't go away - I finally felt better by Saturday so ventured into the hills of Worcestershire on Sunday - or should that be quagmire - which rhymes better with Worcestershire....... honestly the rain this week been mad again - I dare say you still will have hosepipe ban though eh Owen?
We parked up in a beautiful peaceful village - Elmley Castle - and they have a beautiful trickling brook adjacent to their main road which most of us washed down in after the walk - how very chav!! :-).. not so peaceful around 4pm I can tell you.... let that be a message to you Heather as you move to the peaceful town of Meriden....
Then the buggy thing came back on Monday - this time it had moved from my bowels to my legs - so they didn't belong to me - so everything was such an effort - and my boss, of course took sympathy.... NOT....... so today when she texted in sick I wondered whether she has got the same as me - should've sent me home before I shared it out!

Anyway exciting weekend ahead - PC Bytheway is coming round to take down my particulars after my naughty video calls - so that'll be nice - but other than that I am having a nice relaxing weekend at home - I may feed the parents - they have just had a wrought iron fence put up to stop the next door neighbour's chav ASBO kids and mates from abusing them through their front windows - and it has really peed them off - bless.. they have been trying to rock it down already -
PENSIONERS 1 ASBO CHAVS 0
Anyway off to my bath now - have a great weekend folks - ol' Numpty is leading the Carnival in Cuba - but am still keeping her up to date with Celebrity Big Brother evictions!

TGIF :-) 050107 Happy New Year

Hiya Friday peops - Happy New Year!
Hope you all had a good one - thanks for all your good wishes by e-mail/text/phone (thanks Lee for dad's) and cards - all well received - loads of updates and photos - thanks Tracy plus Gerry & Jane - all pinned up inside my cubby hole where I sit and e-natter to u all!
Christmas day went without a hitch - caviar canapés followed by mango and champagne sorbet then lamb in port wine sauce and Christmas pud.... we had dead posh crackers again - and I have a few new gadgets to take on my travels. Dad dozed off after leaving mom to sample everything from the wine list hic! I was spoiled rotten and mom and dad got me a 'ra ra cum bustier style apron' - which of course I wore to serve dinner! Mom also got me some fizzy willies for my bath - she knows me so well.....
Went up to Borrowdale for New Year walking with SPICE - really nice crowd - no cranks/weirdoes/irritating farts - except for me of course.... and the weather was quite amazing - I understand a few UK new year celebrations were cancelled - but not us - oh no - we got pummelled by the wind and rain - force 8 gales - horizontal rain - it was worrying cos one of the walk leaders Andy is only little and kept blowing off - probably all the black pudding he was having for breakfast..... we were thrown up against the sides of the river Derwent cos the river swelled like the Zambezi - I laughed so much - at least it was warm - there's something comforting about being warm and wet....
I put on about 4lb, but the Gods have been kind and given me a dose of something which has kept me off work for the last 2 days (first time in over a year!).... it's either the lamb sandwich I took to work on Wednesday or a bug which I hear is sweeping the locality? Either way, I'm not aesthetically pleasing - am walking like Mrs Overall and the recovery phase is rather windy - yes more blowing off - it's good to live alone sometimes........
And on that note - here's to a great 2007 for all of us
Keep the news coming in - it's great to hear from you - Moira have a fab time in Peru, Numpty in Cuba and Shirley - surely you must've gone somewhere exotic?

TGIF :-) 061006

Hi Friday peops

Bit late tonight cos had a girlie night in with Sarah - too soggy for walking out there isn't it? Apparently a Tropical trade wind or something like that - which is what I've blamed in the office all week - I blame the diet - and gym - it's shaking everything about too much - I'm not at all sociable right now - so glad there's not a man on the scene - the joys of windy singledom ;-)
Anyway the Titty thing reservoir ramble last Sunday was good - in case you're wondering - yeah of course you are - and this sad rambler managed at last to get into her fancy Crag Hopper rambling trews cos of the gym toning the saggy bits up - so that was good. This weekend I'm rambling with Steve - and we're off to the World Conker Championships - we know how to live!
Last weekend wasn't all good tho - cos when I was cooking my chicken for my ramble baps - I got it out of the microwave and lifted the lid and - BANG - the bloody thing exploded - which is not the best thing when you have wanged a load of basil pesto in - green gunk all over me and the kitchen, and chunks of chicken dropping from the ceiling. Luckily the microwave is right above the washing machine - so hope the neighbours didn't see me getting stripped off and shoving all my clothes straight in! (They'd probably just think another normal day in the 'Kim Kitchen'......) Anyway - what I didn't notice until Monday was the shape of the small burn on my right cheek - it was like a chicken footprint - or a 'V' - like a subliminal message - become a Veeeeegetaaaaariaaaaaan......! Everyone has been very polite and not commented - but luckily the scab has fallen off now - somewhere.....I think on the treadmill at gym :-)
Went to see 'Hoodwinked' with my mate Sue - very giggly escapism - just what you need when the news is such pooh at the moment.
Had another day let loose on the wards - and they left me to look after a lady with short term memory loss - now that was a salutary lesson in patience.. poor lady - like the blind leading the blind.... Me -"So, do you want a shower or a bath?" "Have I had one?" Me - "No, I don't think so"... (no-one round to ask)... Me - "Never mind wont hurt having another..." "What do I need?" Me - "What do you normally use?" "I don't remember" Me -"Let's take these... " "Where are we going?" Me -"To the shower" "Is it this way?" Me -"I don't know it's my first day..." That was pretty much the type of chat we had for the rest of the day, but we both enjoyed ourselves - and that's exactly what she wrote in her diary :-)
And on that note, I'll leave you..... I'll bet you can't wait to hear about the conkers!!!

Have a good 'un!

H i Friday peops

I know you're just dying to know about the World Conker Championshiops last Sunday in Ashton - I didn't enter - otherwise I'd have conkered them all - but it was great fun watching - commentator was really funny - beer in one hand - microphone in the other..."OOOH It's a SNAG.... and OOOHH! A 'SELF-DESTRUCT" I was stood between two tall 'Martins' and every time the TV camera turned our way we ducked! Sarah gave me a load of conkers out of her garden after our walk on Saturday so I took them along and we had our own mini championship by the River Nene - all rather English....
On Tuesday 4 of us from work went to see a colleague Phil in an Am Dram production of 'Meet me in St Louis' - for those of you who don't know the storyline, and want to know... in a nutshell the Smith family live in and love St Louis, and Mr Smith gets offered a job in New York but he doesn't go............. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Fortunately Phil has great presence on the stage - but the microphones were crackling and popping so some of the characters sounded like Norman Collier - but you have to be so careful at these productions cos you're surrounded by the entire cast's family and friends in the audience!
I'm off to the Country Girl in a bit to meet Lucy n Amanda - from a former work life - girlie catch up - then tomorrow off to Gloucester bimbling and on Sunday the old uns are taking me to Hatton - niiiice :-)

Have a fab weekend :-)

TGIF :-) 201006

Hi Friday peops

Another week absorbed by the gym attendances to redistribute the lardy bits to places I didn't know I had.... still... it's something to do! They give you a sticky wristband - just like a hospital ID - so far I've lost at least 2 in between the changing room and the gym - and today caused havoc at the reception cos I got stuck to loads of leaflets on the desk advertising the various classes - I wonder if they do one on how to stick your own 'GYM' label on your wrist using one hand??

Lovely Friday chill out with Loos and Amanda - it was lovely catching up with them both after a gap - both fresh faced 25 year olds - who will go far - I'm only nurturing them so I can be a 'James Bond' style PA to them - when I'm more mature - Kimmie Moneypenny.... :-)

Went to the flicks with Sue to see 'The Devil wears Prada' - didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped - maybe it was a bit near the knuckle with Meryl Streep being the bullying nasty Boss - and I so wish she'd got her come uppance - some good one liners - but all that designer label stuff is lost on the likes of me - I remember working with nurses working for the private sector who were always trying to outdo each other with their 'designer label' bags and stuff - get a life eh? Says she who buys designer rambling gear... aaah shaddap!! Mind you - me 'Brashers let me down last week on a bimble with Steve - I was very soggy at the end - with mild trench foot - nice... so off to get some new designer boots tomorrow....

I'm off to soak me bones in Droitwich Brine pool on Sunday - ready for the gym on Monday! :-)

Have a fabbo weekend :-)

Kimmie x

TGIF :-) 271006

Hi Friday peops Had a nice float in the Brine pool last Sunday - so I suppose it was my own fault for starting the week floating.... mind you also had lovely sunset walk round Earlswood lakes with Sarah, and a little attempt at dowsing - Sarah has a pendulum and was showing me how to recognise "Yes" and "No" and I should've known the week ahead was going to be a challenge when my Dowser decided to be indecisive...... who else would have an indecisive dowser!!

Me n Sue decided to go last minute to see 'Barnyard' using our 'Orange Wednesday' mobile option - but we are becoming such good connoisseurs of cartoons that we decided that 'Hoodwinked' still has the edge for storyline - though we were as usual giggling at things that no one else was giggling at - we must be the oldest cartoon swingers in town!

Had a pooh day on the wards yesterday - can't say too much without News of the World getting hold of it - but let's just say the patients were more helpful than the staff and maybe it is a good idea to find out now about private health insurance! NHS = National Horror Service..... so thank goodness I was able to shimmy it away in a belly dancing class last night... needless to say instead of looking sexy and sultry I looked like a geyser using a pneumatic drill - and my belly muscles wouldn't do what they were being told to do - but I laughed so much that my belly ached this morning!
Is it me - or is it really hard to judge the pressure you have to put on the petrol pump dispensers so you have to hold them so gently otherwise they click off so you are trying to fill up but standing there going click click click..... yup - I'm in a stroppier mood than usual this Friday and wasn't going to share it but then you know what they say - a trouble shared....... Off this weekend to see Alex in concert at the Warwick Art centre with mom - if she's recovered from the flu? See ya there Alex x It's also Rob's birthday today - so Happy Birthday to him.... but I'm a bit like Loyde and am often months out with birthdays - but I figure if you wish someone happy birthday once a year you've a 1:365 chance of guessing the right day - and them odds are better than the lottery :-) Kimminie x

TGIF :-) 041106
Hi Friday peops

4 minutes to go - before it'd have to be a TGIS! Just got back from seeing Beauty and the Beast - Alex -that'd be 'Beauty and the Beef' ;-) - at the Hippodrome with Sarah n Cathy - excellent costumes - great fun and very colourful - but ooooh!!!! ...no wonder today's kids are getting fatter - all you could hear in the audience was the distant rustle of sweet papers - unbelievable - and poor little 'FAT' Princesses in the audience dressed up as 'Belle' and looking more like the bloody biggest 'BELL' in Big Ben - they could hardly climb the stairs huffing and puffing carrying their choc ices and sweets!

Sunday afternoon - me n mom saw the lovely Alex leading the violins of the Junior CBSO at Warwick Arts Centre - with Stravinsky - very nice - very soothing way to mellow you into a Monday.......... she wasn't officially lead violin - but in our eyes she was.

Tuesday - Helped out at a Cheese and wine 'do' - drank too much - and ate nearly a pound of cheese and wondered why I dreamed of me being a Bishop in a Chess game, and being knocked off the board by a Kangaroo?

Wednesday - poshed it up with Sarah at Debenhams - one of those girlie nights when you can get pampered to lull you into a false sense of security so you end up buying make up you don't need etc! Fortunately because I am so naturally gorgeous I didn't succumb...

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - neighbour Easton round to fix the telly that the Cable man "broke" when putting new Cable Box in - think we have tried every which way but loose and every variation on connections - so much so that I think we picked up alien Tingha & Tucker from the planet Zog when trying to tune in the TV upstairs - when TV upstairs worked, TV downstairs was crap - you're getting the drift there - needless to say haven't needed so much time at the gym as running up and downstairs - trying to choose which one of the several remotes to use for Video/Cable/TV/DVD upstairs/downstairs. He's moving in tomorrow - and is determined to crack it - it's a 'man' thing.

Have a good un

Hi Friday peops
I've had a fretful week - and tho I know I try and keep these things positive - today I'm not feeling too happy when I reflect back on the week I'm feeling decidedly crabby.
Yesterday at work was one of the horibbilist (my new word) for a while. Some nerd keeps putting a small widget in a big hole - which means that we may hoist a patient to the ceiling only to find the little widget slips out and so does the patient...... just because (and why I suspect it's a man is only understood by us girls....) some nerd thinks it's OK to wiggle a little widget in a big hole, when us girls know full well when it's a big hole only a big widget fits. We had other stuff going down too - the office was like a market - little huddles of staff trooping in to share their latest widget problems! It was weird because David Attenborough's new 'Planet Earth' was still fresh in my mind - and all I could think about was how it was like 'March of the Penguins' - with them all sort of shuffling in and spinning round in a huddle squeaking and drifting out again before the next little troop came in....
I should've known the week wasn't going to be the best - it started with a shell shock - literally - as I invited the old uns round last Sunday for dinner and decided to do something with seafood - so I bought three whole crabs from Lidl - well, it was a special offer - I couldn't resist... anyway, as I cut the vacuum pack and slid them out, they made me leap cos their claws were moving and they looked like they were still alive - and so I was trying to pull their legs off and leaping back and dropping legs - there were claws flying everywhere...... shan't be doing that again - it'll be John West's best - no wonder the stuff is expensive - what a pain - mind you it was fun using my nutcracker to try and get the last remnants out of the shell - dad was in his element!!
As the song says, things can only get better.................. maybe if I have a 'skinful' - get it?........
Have a good un folks

Hi Friday peops

Had a nice chilled weekend - bimbling in Stratford Upon Avon on Saturday and slobbing out on Sunday watching telly and doing girlie cross stitch - so decided must go the gym twice this week - but it's still sooooooo boring... so I have a new game at the gym - picture the mirrors everywhere and equipment so close to each other that you are practically rubbing up against each other - so I've been doing the old eye contact thing and smiling and starting conversations - soooo funny - how polite people are when they think you are 'special needs' and out on community leave or something, and how quickly they move leaving you more space to work out!

Went back to work on Monday all refreshed - and as we know things happen for a reason - open the first e-mail - and it's from a General Manager who says they were "disturbed" at the way I handle things - so I figure maybe 'dur' management were at the gym and saw me? Am I bovered? Face? Bovered? :-D

Did my clinical shift this week and had so much fun with the patients - amazing how resilient some are in the face of such awful circumstances - I got told to Feck off to Papua New Guinea by one??!? but the rest were really lovely - and whether they can tell I'm doing my best and have just got used to me being around...who knows - but they rallied and stuck together and looked after me more than I looked after them - so that was a really humbling experience.

Went to see 'Step Up' with Sue - who is purely attention seeking now and dragging her cold out for as long as she can - we really enjoyed it - we like movies which end happily ever after.... especially when the lead blokey has nice buns too....

Life is back to 'normality' for me as "I'm a Celebrity... get me outta here" is back on so there are nightly text frenzies again between three addicts - me, mom and Numpty. Sarah popped round tonight too - caught me in my slobbing out mode - but girlies together is no problem is it?

I'm being sent to Coventry for 4 days next week to learn how to manage 'conflict' in the NHS - so folks, that's where your taxes are going - but I promise I'll come back a better person, and free of any conflict.

Charlie - I hadn't forgotten your birthday - sorry - hope it was a good un - I have a small token - so we must meet up and exchange it with your pendulum!

Since I am a bit out of pocket due to my gas and electric company taking a £400 catch up payment....I thought I rather liked the joke that Vanessa sent today -
cheers Ness

Have a good weekend folks

Commenting on a complaint from a Mr. Arthur Prudery about a large gas bill, a spokesman for North West Gas said, "We agree it was rather high for the time of year. It's possible Mr. Prudery has been charged for the gas used up during the explosion that destroyed his house." (The Daily Telegraph)

Hi Friday peops

Lovely time last Sunday at B'ham Tattoo - NIA - the Ghurkhas were there - and since Rohini and Chris haven't mentioned bringing me one back from Nepal - what else could I do but make an excuse and take the old uns to see them marching and playing - fablious. Really stirring - with the finale being the massed bands filling the arena playing that lovely tune which is played in the Last of the Mohicans - real rousing stuff - I do love my Indians as some of you know :-)
Then in stark contrast I wasted your taxes on a four day course for the NHS in Coventry - I learned such a lot - like never ever go to Coventry on your own - do you know they have tannoys telling the people on the street what to do if they see you stepping out of line - yay - made Birmingham look like a Cotswolds village!!
The tutor was from Zummerzett or Bristol - somewhere that way - lots of rolling R's - and pretty much an R's! Fortunately the other 6 people there were human - well 3 of them anyway if I'm honest.....
So back to normality - and normality at the moment for me is that I'm receiving Video calls from a complete dick - yes - you read it right - he's taken nearly three weeks to perfect getting the pixels right so I can now see his knob - which wasn't a pleasant experience as I was just about to tuck into my chicken goujons at Nando's in Tannoy Land with my fellow NHS colleagues! I've had some really helpful advice from Orange and the police - who know where it is coming from - the Orange people asked today whether I recognised him - and whilst I accept I've had my moments..... even I wouldn't recognise half the knobs I've been out with - but fortunately I'm being helped by a local cop called PC Bytheway, and by the way.... I'm hoping that I may be called to a police line up soon - to see if I can recognise the perpetrator........ gorra larf!!!!!!!!

Off to Batsford for a bimble this blowy weekend - hope yours is safe and smiley

Hi Friday peops
Yes I know it's a day late - I've already been told off. Couple of reasons - my PC is on a go slow and so am I!! Went to the gym last night and Pasquale has upped my game - so the only thing that is moving with any fluidity this morning are the two fingers I am using to type this out! I am not losing any weight y'see - just tightening up all my wobbly bits - my bum is getting a J-Lo look about it and soon I will be able to have friends round and use it as a picnic table.....
Last weekend went walking with SPICE in the Cotswolds - very nice day - sunny, blowy and dry - so all rosy on Monday for work... which has been quite hectic this week - but we usually start the Christmas wind down on December 1st - such is the pace...... had a bit of a 'faux pas' happen this week - and it helped release a few much needed endorphins.... we are being forced into much more bureaucracy - yet again - around protecting children - and so we have devised a form for parents to complete asking for all sorts of information like 'Was the father around at the time of the birth.... and other embarrassing things - you feel like asking - well, was he around at the conception - to be honest in this day and age, I don't think many of the mums would know?! The faux pas is slightly delicate in nature, and due to proximity of keys on the keyboard is still causing a lot of stifled giggling - the ethnic origin is sought and it asks: Please circle the appropriate:A) WHITE (1) BRITISH (2 )IRISH (3) ANY OTHER SHITE BACKGROUND
Other worky news is that one of our staff members Florence is going home to Cape Town - so that's another TGIF member on the move - they're all over at the mo - NZ, Nepal, Ecuador and now South Africa - fab! Keep in touch Floribunda!
Fab news this week - Alex has been accepted into two places for music next year - Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Birmingham Conservatoire - think she'll be staying in Brum - so well done Alex :-)
Have a great weekend - batten down the hatches in UK!

TGIF :-) 081206

Hiya Friday peops
Hectic week - work has flown again - went to typical NHS study workshop on Monday which should have been cancelled as they were pre-empting something that was supposed to have been published by the Department of Health and it wasn't, but they still went ahead with the study day (doh!?) - and we wonder why the NHS is running out of money??
Last Sunday night met a guy off the dating site and chose to go to a quiet pub - and there was a pub quiz on - and there were 40 questions - all of which were repeated twice - very loudly on a whistly microphone - and in between each question we were trying to blurt out a bit of conversation, and the quiz was more interesting so I got a bit distracted - and made me realise Heather & Clive that I have missed our Sunday night pub quiz Google cheating :-)
This week I have met another one - who is much more promising - all his own teeth and a full head of hair - however I chose a local organic restaurant for lunch - and lo and behold he managed to find another hair - neatly deposited on his organic mushrooms - so guess I'm not having much luck around dating - but it's keeping me amused.
Met up with Loz & Wendy for a girlie catch up and scoff!
I'm waiting for Sue right now to text me and we're off to Castleton YHA for a walk with Gary tomorrow - and yes - the new boy wants to see me again on Sunday - glutton for punishment!
Have a good un folks :-)

TGIF :-) 151206

Hi Friday peops. Only nine days till Santa fills my stockings - mind you I haven't been a good girl all this year so maybe I'll be left waiting....
Monday -helped Sarah download her beautiful Slovenia wedding photos onto a CD - while it was howling a gale outside - looking at all those sunny Cinderella type shots was quite therapeutic for me - not so for Sarah who discovered that unlike Cinderella who just left a shoe, I'd left a trail of muddy footprints all the way through and up the stairs...............maybe Sarah, I was just trying to make it easier for Prince Charming to find me?

Tuesday - SPICE Christmas wine tasting competition - I wonder how Gary the solicitor got on the next day defending his client on drink driving? Our table won - helped along by me winning the speed drinking competition....I was a little worse for wear the following day... and last night was the SPICE Christmas do with Sue - to which I'd invited along Ray & Jax - and all I can say is sorry both for it turning into a Chav Christmas bash. We did have a bit of a giggle and bop so all was not lost - there was a Tina Turn-off singer, most of the food was delivered into various laps, the disco smoke effects weren't effects - it was from the 10 fags the Chavs had in between every course, or should that be coarse, the ladies loos had been well chavved by midnight - no loo seats or loo paper left, miniatures strewn in the basins, hair extensions and sequins all over the place... and the Vicky Pollards had climbed over most of the loo cubicles and locked them from the inside - how very dare they :-) To give you some idea of how bad they were folks, if I say they made me look posh,...............now you're getting the picture!!!!

Heard a few funny stories about nativity plays at work - various people have been off watching their kiddlings and grand kiddlings - apparently in one they mentioned getting lost and not following the star but using their Tom Tom Sat Nav! In the news this week it did mention about Crimbo becoming more Chavvy - they weren't wrong were they? I'm pretty much done for Crimbo - just churned out the annual newsletter - and am going to sit and do my cards tonight. Off to Leamington for a bimble on Sunday and a second Christmas meal........ Ho Ho Ho and all that! Have a good weekend folks

Hiya Friday peops
The last TGIF of the year - as I shall be on my way to Borrowdale for the next one - I hear a collective "pheeeeeew" around the globe :-)
It's a sure sign of Christmas rapidly approaching - I have already gained 3lb with all the mince pies - and three 'Christmas meals' - PLUS I have a festive froat and am doing a good impression of Rudolph - oh the joys of a viral Christmas - which has curtailed my mucus membrane mistletoe moments somewhat - but am I bovered....?
I decided to start to get into the festive spirit last weekend by going for a 'Christmassy themed' ramble - gentle stroll though the quagmire around Leamington Spa and on to the pub for a festive feast of lamb - at least that's what I ordered - and after a lengthy debate about the anaemic looking lamb which was in fact pork - with the waitresses who said the chef was insistent it was lamb, there was a reluctant U turn - and they agreed it was pig on my plate - think he felt a bit sheepish about his mistake..... but fancy!!!!!

The next festive meal was an afternoon away from the NHS - and it survived - with the 'team' do - Italian - very nice. We were told this year by the NHS top dogs that we wouldn't be allowed our complimentary afternoon off shopping as it would cost the entire NHS £100,000 and that would pay for 7 nurses - bummer really - but most of us do our shopping on the Internet during work time anyway - so all's well......kidding....
I've got mater and pater coming round for Christmas day - and we have a surprise menu - which I will divulge in my new year TGIF, as (some of you maybe know...) they are on the TGIF list.....although the main course wont be a surprise because mom has already got the leg of lamb - well... that was what I asked for anyway......
So, I'll sign off now - hope you all have a relaxing and fun time over Christmas - especially Issie - hope the new fridge arrives OK tomorrow.... and hope all you folk in warmer climes - NZ - hi both mums and my Kiwi babes & Sammy Nurse, SA - Floribunda, Nepal - Ro & Chris, Ecuador - Paula, US - thanks Lee for making dad's Crimbo again with a phone call - & Hertfordshire - hi Owen ;-) & Wassup - are you home or in a war zone? - have a fabulous time - we are fog bound in the UK - so none of us are leaving - we all have to stay at home this Christmas whether we like it or not - and that is probably why Sainsburys have run out of sprouts already!
Take care now - see you in 2007 - Kimmie luvs ya xxxx

Hi folks

Sending a day early cos I'm going to 'Taste of Birmingham' tomorrow night at Cannon Hill Park with Sarah, H and Mark. Brum's restaurants will be plying their wares in exchange for 'crowns' - so it'll be a lycra moment I feel to allow for some Bridget Jones style belly expansion! Middle age spread will be allowed tho - cos I'm 45 tomorrow :-D

Bloomin hot at work - 92 degrees (in old money) on the one day - I was wearing as little as professionally possible but had a scary moment this week when a piece of beetroot leapt out of my lunch bowl onto my skirt, so not wanting to frighten anyone (as I was doing the thong thang) I locked myself in the large disabled loo where they have a low rise sink with in-built soap dispenser and drier and proceeded to remove the small beetroot stain successfully and dry it off under the dryer. When I pulled the skirt out from under, I'd added a great big green glob from the soap dispenser - yes - in the end I just soaked the whole lot, put it back on which was so cooling and gave up and hid in the office for the rest of the afternoon!

Had a couple of lovely walks with Sarah this week round the 3 Earlswood lakes - and had some truly lovely girlie bonding moments, and let Garry have some quality 'man time' while we tromped round gassing and giggling - we missed a whole lake out - oops :-) Had a Magnum moment with Sharpie tonight in the garden too - so it's all been good girlie fun :-)

It's the Jazz Festival in town this weekend so will introduce Mark to Brum City Centre.

Hope you all have a good un.

Hi Friday peops Great birthday weekend - with Marky Mark, Sarah and H at the Taste of Brum food show - it was like a military exercise planning which tent to visit next and exchange our 'crowns' for samples! Sarah was pudding queen having used all hers up on 3! Mom has just told me she has got me a great book - some of you know I am on a bit of a sausage and mash drive - and my drawers are full of farmers market delights at the mo (freezer that is) so am looking forward to seeing that. Me n Mark then spent a leisurely day around Brum on Saturday with Jazz playing and Dragon boats racing up the canals (normal for Brum??!!) and then on Sunday he cooked me a Roast dinner and did the washing up :-O Had some lovely handprints from Kiwi land - and luxury delights for the garden and bath - two of my favourite places :-) Mom and Dad are treating me to a trip to Kiwi land so they are all on standby underneath - may be doing a spot of sheep shearing? My TV 'Entertainment Cabinet' (from Argos) collapsed this week - which is a bit of a bummer, but not wanting to be outdone, mom's chair collapsed from underneath her today (also from Argos!) and she texted me at work - I knew she was OK though when she added that she was "not a happy bunny, and was hoping that she hadn't got to speak to a man in China?!".....Last night me and Sarah graced (well disgraced...) the floors at a Bhangra dance workshop. I know how to shimmy now - and lead my oxen and sow my seeds - but the greatest challenge came from looking after a partially sighted wee young thing - who I was trying to explain and position her arms and legs - this from someone who only knows how to reggae! Needless to say she narrowly survived being mown down by the Dhol drummer at one stage after I let her wonder too far forward! It was a good laugh though! Anyway off to "Manchestaw" this weekend to see Mark and help Jane celebrate her birthday and catch up with the gang I met up with at Centre Parcs. Have a good un Kimmie x

TGIF :-) 210706

Hi Friday peops

Brill weekend up in Manchester with Mark - enjoyed helping Jane celebrate her birthday and also met up with the rest of the Centre Parcs gang at their SPICE get together - which me and Mark managed to get thrown out of cos he'd been naughty..... drinking Guinness from the pub over the way cos the one we were in had sold out!

Did a teaching session with my pals at Birmingham University and melted - it's hitting 30 degrees+ here in middle England this week - and typically the air con didn't come on until an hour before the end - then the train rails buckled so my train home was cancelled - had to walk home - I wouldn't mind but with it being compulsory to drink cold beer as soon as you get in - weight watchers has gone out the window!

Helped our violin virtuoso celebrate her 17th birthday this week - congrats Alex - 17! The violin cake went down well. And guess what I was doing on the hottest day here on record - yes - baking another bloody cake - a beer mug! Poor Mark is getting short shrift cos he calls me at strategic times - like when I was putting the violin strings (aka dental floss) on Alex's cake - if it was out of tune Alex you can blame him!....and today when I'm making the beer mug handle. Got to be nice to him tho cos he's helping me fix the collapsed TV cabinet this weekend - I know how to have fun on my days off!

Poor H is in Ecuador on 'holiday' - trust her to go when there is a volcano erupting and everyone is being evacuated! Am keeping her updated with Big Brother news tho' - just what you need when you're in the middle of a natural disaster - news of an unnatural one on the telly :-)

Last night Sharpie and Junie invited me to a girlie sleepover and wined and dined me in style - and this weekend I've got a houseful of men (well three - quality not quantity - Andy - "That's easy for you to say..." and Mikey) on Saturday night - I've got to get them in training for the Dragon Boat racing on Sunday - not sure what I'll do to - maybe they can all muck in with Mark and fix my TV cabinet? I've jumped ship and will be competing against Birmingham SPICE with Manchester gang!

Anyway off to steam the kitchen floor again after all the icing sugar flying around - so the boys don't get stuck to it tomorrow - mind you........... might keep them out of trouble....

Have a good un!

Hi folks
Had a brilliant time rowing last weekend for the Manchestaw B team - and we came second in the semi-finals and 5th overall - great sunny day with loads of laughs. Poor Andy insisted on rowing for the Manchester A team - and as he said (and it's easy for him to say....) it's the taking part that counts - yeah!!!!! Birmingham B and C team came first and second finally knocking SPICE Thames Valley off their Dragon Boat perch - first time in 13 years we've got the cup back!!
Thankfully finished the beer mug cake - which looked more like the leaning tower of Pisa because of the heat! Got a 100th birthday cake to do for Numpty 1 for September - oh yes talking of Numpties - I graduated with my Diploma in Risk Management (with distinction) - so I can add another few bits n bobs to the end of my name - mind you it sounds like I'm a lover of tea - as it is PG Dip!!!
Sharpie is coming for a girlie sleepover tonight as we are off to relive our youth - at a seventies do - of course I was a child of the eighties really but I'm going to keep her company ;-). I shall be keeping her awake all night coughing though - as I have a glorious summer cold! Off to Manchestaw tomorrow to spread my germs up there! Waseem 's book is out soon and he has been asking all his pals who should play him when the film comes out - I was suggesting Richard Gere or similar - one of his other pals came up with Whoopi Goldberg - poor Waseem!!!!
Back to the wine now - have a good un - hope this heat isn't melting you all away - think we've got it hotter than Rohini and Chris in Nepal and I know it's been raining on Heather in the Ecuador jungle - but at least it has put the volcano out!
Kept the joke short for Jane this week - as she'll be too busy to read a long one after her Lake Garda trip!

Two Eskimos in a kayak were chilly, so they started a fire, which sank the craft, proving the old adage you can't have your kayak and heat it

Hi Friday peops

Good weekend with girlie sleepover last Friday with Sharpie - wont go into detail but needless to say we lost most of Saturday.... and I cried off going up to Manchestawr - and indeed the love affair of the year is over - yes folks, I will no longer be kissing those 30 a day lips as we are "different people"........ that's life eh? Needless to say I was heartbroken.... ;-) so did some window shopping and am highly flattered by the attention of a rather gorgeous young thing on Dating Direct - for more info e-mail me!!

Dad is getting adventurous and in one of his 'Superhero' dreams last week flung himself out of bed kicking the baddie - and ended up badly bruising his neck of all things in a really weird place - personally I think mom has probably tried to 'do him in', but in an interesting twist this week mom (aka Agatha Christie) has been trying to cover her tracks by pretending to try and work out how he did it and I'm not sure (I'm scared to ask) whether she's been throwing herself out of bed to test the trajectory?

Met up for Chinese with old school pal and Youth club friend Joy (from 30 years + ago) - we first bumped into each other a year ago - tho it doesn't feel like it - had a nice giggle - and tonight it's off to Sarah's in Earlswood for a girlie Big Brother eviction night - H is back form Ecuador tomorrow but is 'up to speed'!

Poor Sarah has shingles - shan't say where - no not there! - but it's not what you need when you are approaching your dream fairytale wedding!! All the 'hens' are off to the Belfry next week for a pamper day - so we hope she holds up ok!

Tone, Tracy, Owen, Nessa, Margaret, Hilarie & A of LASR??!! thanks for the help with the Kiwi shopping! Have found the Sudocrem in 400g tubs and two will be winging their way over next week.

Have a great weekend folks!

TGIF :-) 100806

Yes I'm off out again - so it's early....

This time.. it's because I'm an assistant 'Hen' at Sarah's pampering Hen Day at the Belfry tomorrow - with a 'Fire and Ice' spectacular and an overnight stay. I will be picking her up in my little pink thing - which I have polished especially - and am packing my pink trolley dolly suitcase as we speak.... in fact I'm sitting here in my roll-up black lycra frock - testing it out for sittability - and will be taking my boob tube lycra (always a danger at a hen disco) stripey frock - which also fits into a handbag!! Might even take it as a change for half way thru the disco - I bet the Belfry wont ever have seen the likes of that!! I've lost 6lb this last fortnight - to allow for the cream buns that will be consumed!

Walked up Mam Tor last weekend - and somehow the guy leading us kept finding more peaks - and in fact I probably haven't really lost 6lb - I reckon it's all sitting round my left knee in the form of fluid - as in typical Bridget Jones fashion I don't tend to put my whole body on the scales as that is just depressing! I find leaving my left leg off - and hanging on to the bathroom door really boosts my morale....

Talking of morale.....I am being chatted up by a 28 year old on the Dating Direct website who is pretty gorgeous - so my ego is having trouble staying squeezed into the lycra - pretty good news after fag ash breath.....mind you, I guess I should change those photos that I put on the website of Halle Berry before he finds out :-)

Word has got around at work why me n faggy breath split - and has caused much merriment - and in these days of depressing news - I feel I've done my bit for the happiness of folk who work for the NHS, yes indeed it was a 'first for Kim'.......... he told people we'd drifted apart (after a month?) when really he'd drifted off - yes - he fell asleep during a passionate moment... ahem! I wou;dn't mind but I was on top!
Have a fab Friday and weekend :-)

TGIF :-) 180806
Hey there Friday peops

In the middle of a cracking storm - brilliaaant:-) Mom will be in the cubby hole - & dad will be looking for a sizeable chunk of wood to wedge under the handle probably ;-)

Had a fab pampering Hen day at the Belfry last weekend - met all of Sarah's other chicks - ferrying her in style in my little pink thing with a pink bow and ribbons on it - lovely relaxing girlie time - in the Aqua Spa - 'Fire and Ice......' http://www.spabreak.co.uk/FacilitiesPages.ink?Venueid=12&pageid=40 ......it's basically steam yourself silly and then tip a bucket of cold water over yourself - yeah.... like that's fun :-/ and there was sauna/hot whirlpools and an igloo with ice - typical girlies though - we were all so busy gassing that it was half an hour before we realised the steam room had run out of steam - fortunately we hadn't and went on to disco until the early hours.

The bad news this week is that my gorgeous 28 year old has discovered that the pictures of Halle Berry on the dating web site don't actually resemble me - the good news is the reason why is because he gave me an hour's notice yesterday - love spontaneity - and picked me up and we drove off into the sunset... well actually we went to the Country Girl and Red Lion - in the hope that someone might see me and my street cred get boosted - but unfortunately only the neighbours were on settee duty - and so no one is going to believe me.... :-)

Bless him tho - he'd only had his plaster removed from his broken leg at 1030 yesterday morning and was still a bit wobbly - or maybe he was so excited to be going out with me that he was break dancing - I'd like to think it could be the latter.....I'm hoping he's going to be brave enough to come back for seconds, it's been quite a smiley week really!

Off out tonight to Sarah's - for the BB eviction night - Lisa and H are on text standby - and Nicole is in Menorca but still wants to know who wins.....not sure yet where we'll be putting Garry for the duration - they have 3 weeks now till they wed - so they are all excited - it's fab!

Have a sooooper weekend

TGIF :-) 250806

Hi Friday peops
Been one of those touch it and it aches or breaks week - first off, noticed my tommies have all got bruised bottoms - turns out I have 'Blossom End Rot' dad says - ...clever old bugger! So they're getting some TLC off me.
Then at work my pooter broke and so the IT boy has been camped out in our office trying to get me sorted out. He set me up on another pooter and I broke it within minutes - he called it the 'Blue screen of death' and mumbled a lot. I ended up with a chalk slate sat in the corner! He borrowed my PDA yesterday to set it all up to dock with the pooter - and when I got to the Co-op yesterday I noticed some extra 'interesting' naughty items added to my Post-It shopping list that I'd stuck just inside the cover of my PDA... and I know for a fact they don't sell those sorts of things at the Co-op!
Monday I went to the rock climbing wall in Moseley & bashed my right knee which has taken my mind nicely off my left knee. Lovely bruise in the shape of North & South Island. One of the docs saw me at work walking gingerly & dragged me off to examine me - he thinks I've done something to my cartilage on my left knee - cos it's got fluid n' stuff and is hot - it's always difficult for me to tell cos I've got mom's knees and I always think I'm hot, as indeed does my new boy......
Y'see had my second visitation by the gorgeous young thing - he is getting much more lively on his pins now his bones are mending - I helped by cooking him ostrich stew - just to speed things up even more. Will keep you posted if we make it to third date.... am keeping everything crossed - even tho it's painful with me knees ;-)
I waved off Jane & Ange this morning - my Mancunian buddy and her mate - they're off to Brussels and had a girlie sleepover here as the coach left Brum at 0600, and I'm planning a quiet bank holiday weekend before they return on Monday. Was hoping to see my Vulcan roll out on Sunday for the first time in 7 years with Ray & Jax but it's not to be cos don't think they've got enough money - bummer.
And this Monday coming Sarah and the lovely Garry fly off to Slovenia to tie the knot by the shores of Lake Bled - aaaah!!! Fortunately the baggage handlers at Stanstead have called off their strike so Sarah hasn't got to fly out looking like a Sumo wrestler tucking her wedding dress in her drawers any more - phew! So lucky for Garry :-)
Have a great weekend folks

TGIF :-) 010906

Hi Friday peops
It's Restoration week..........Bank Hol weekend was a bit of a damp squib as the Vulcan roll out was not to be - but have had a fab piece of news this week - she will fly again restoration is going ahead - official announcement tomorrow - but for Lee in US, Numpty One(& Pam) and Ray n Jax here is a link for yous:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/breakfast/5301056.stm
On Monday gorgeous young thing appeared for Date 3 and has survived again - we will have been in touch (albeit via t'Internet) for a month this weekend - and to carry on the Restoration theme I took him for a hobble to show him the Kings Norton Saracens Head and School project from last years ring around (remember that one folks?)! They have started work now.
Had a 'first' this week - finished a 100th birthday cake for Numpty One's Granddad's birthday - he may not know whose birthday it is - but hope he enjoys his cake anyway :-)
Today I worked from home - cos I was being serviced - yes the old boiler is getting on now - so I have one of those annual maintenance checks - to say I was disappointed is an understatement - and I have already complained cos he didn't sweep the flue - I'm serious - I'm not a happy bunny. It was handy cos I also had two parcels being delivered and naturally the last one arrived at 1630 - better late than never - got a new gadget (PDA) to play with now....
Tomorrow me and mater and pater are going to queue up with the old uns to get first dibs at the plants at Birmingham Garden Show - the forecast is vile - so it may be like a 'Glastonbury' for 'Blue rinses' hmmmm............ however the good news is that the weather in Slovenia tomorrow is going to be 'fine' so that is wonderful news for Garry & Sarah who are splicing the main brace at 2pm (3pm our time).
On Sunday I'm testing the knee at Draycote Reservoir - and then my boy may be coming round - I've got some electrical jobs lined up for him cos he's having difficulty getting back into the mainstream after his accident - I know how to spoil him! :-)
Hey...............I think the sun is over the yard arm here, so to go and celebrate the wedding and Vulcan roll out I feel a beer coming on!
Have a good weekend folks

TGIF :-) 080906
Hi there Friday peops Sunny UK here :-). Had a good last weekend at the garden show - got blown around and drenched and despite looking like a walking bush carrying all sorts of stuff that we accumulated I was still recognised by loads of friends and neighbours - which was nice! Sunday was better weather and I tested the ol' knee out at Draycote Reservoir - very nice - knee was fine still got some fluid on it but cos they both chubby (mom's genes) no one can tell :-)Took a spontaneous afternoon off on Monday and Alex & Flips took me to see Pirates of the Caribbean - followed by what was supposed to be an individual pizza which seems to have lasted me the rest of the week! This week, I went back on the wards for the first time in a million years - didn't actually touch any patients - they going to let me loose next time though - now they've reminded me which end is which - y'see I've not done the right category of 'manual handling' and it wouldn't do for the Risk Manager to break the health & safety rules, not with ol' Numpty One being Mother Superior of Manual Handling Team - she's being doing some RosPA work and studying haptonomics so I've got to be careful - first prize goes to anyone who can tell me what that is?! Mind you, she surpassed herself shutting up one of those e-mail frenzy jobs around manual handling this week with a really clever 'baffle 'em with bullshit' jobbies - fab!!. Uniform is not sexy much to my boy's disappointment! Sarah & Garry will have been married one whole week tomorrow - and I am going to help them celebrate tomorrow night at Toyks -am off up there tonight for a bimble round the lakes. Might be tootling round Artsfest the rest of the weekend too - so text me if any of you are going and we can meet up? Have a fab weekend PS See you Wednesday Wendy - bring loads of fotos of Nathan! Kimmie x

TGIF :-) 150906

Hi Friday peops

I didn't end up going to Artsfest at all last weekend cos my favourite Bhangrafest was on the Friday night and I couldn't be bovered! Had a great Saturday night helping Sarah & Garry celebrate lasting a week in wedded bliss - it was great to catch up with all the Hens - think the Cocks felt a bit left out! The meal was absolutely gorgeous - lamb melted in your mouth - and the choc pudding was orgasmic - so I filled me boots - Sharpie took me there for my birthday too back in the Summer - so I must make it a triple whammy before the year's out...

Talking of Sharpie - she's got a lot to answer for - she also treated me to a Smoothie book, so I've bought a Kenwood smoothie maker complete with tap - dead posh -and my kitchen is stickier than ever - Mango, berries - you name it - they get everywhere. I'm being a real saddo and ticking them off as I do them - the Blueberry and cheese one was gorgeous but they don't warn you to check your mush before you go out!! A blue smile is not becoming if you are off to a wedding do - especially if it clashes with your red dress!

Met up with City Hosp gang Loz n Wendy for more food and gossip on Wednesday at Cafe Rouge - Wendy's Nathan is 6 months old now - and gorgeous - and we have all got to think of him and mommy n daddy next week cos he's having a little op. My own little girl Mariama in Senegal was 6 this week - the last photo they sent of her - she was all legs - and still beautiful!

Last night I went to a Falconry Centre and saw a Golden Eagle and loads of owls dead close up - they were flying them exclusively for about 20 of us - they were brilliant! I got winged a couple of times - cos I wouldn't duck :-) There was a snowy Owl, Barn Owl, Eagle Owl. The one which made me laugh was one that was scared of the dark cos he's only a baby - and he flew off squeaking into the trees - and took a fair bit of coaxing to come back! The other one was the Snowy Owl Basil who can't be bovered to fly so runs between the guys getting his food - which if you can imagine with his big white socks on and his wings outstretched for balance - lumbered along!

Talking of lumbering been to a gym induction tonight so watch this space - I am aiming for the 2012 Olympics now - I don't think it's too late!

PS Thanks to those of you who have contacted my Sparky boy for quotes etc - looks like I might not be seeing as much of him as I'd like cos he'll be round at yous lots!! Taking him for a curry tonight so the snogging will be spicy later ;-)

Have a great weekend

Fab Fit Kimmie x

TGIF :-) 220906

Hi Friday peops
Well, Oh my Gawd.... is gym boring!!! First prize goes to Steve though for his witty retort last week when I said I was training for the 2012 Olympics... he said there's nothing wrong with being a Steward.............
It's fascinating watching people though there - I wasn't sure what to wear but should not have worn loose hipster leggings with my 'mad cow' knickers - bargain from Dot P's - patterned like a cow - with pink mad cow thick elastic band... yes you've got the picture... rowing away half mooning with mad cow knickers at half the gym! I'm not sure whether my seat is at position 4 or my resistance level so sometimes I'm dangling and pushing or pulling and moving nowhere and other times my legs are moving faster than roadrunner and I look rather daft!
Needless to say I've enjoyed my walks round the lakes better with Sarah - and have just got back tonight from a lovely misty sunset walk - we looped the loop round the 3 lakes so often cos it was just so gorgeous. We've had the tail end of Hurricane Gordon so the trees were creaking a bit the other evening which spooked me and Sarah - I texted mom to tell her all about it - and she responded saying I must have felt like Snow White, but after clarifying what she meant - I have to admit that I'd totally forgotten about the bit in the forest where she was chased by trees - I only remember the bit about how she got away with sleeping with seven little men?
Sadly Sarah hasn't joined me at the gym yet as her new cookery evening classes have started. Her first session on Monday was Sicilian - and yes... the whole class set the fire alarms off, and apparently a fellow pupil was so embarrassed that they had to evacuate the whole college with everyone knowing it was the cookery class that he whipped his apron off and stood with the French class saying ooh la la and that sort of thing! She's doing something Moroccan next week - I'll keep you posted....
Had a couple of lovely moments this week - working alongside a Rehab Assistant on the wards for the day - watching her patiently coaxing a patient out of her shell - nice to know there are some good workers left in the NHS, and Numpty sent me a video of her granddad clapping away enjoying his 100th birthday and the cake I made him -aaah!!
Weirdest day of the week was at a Food Hygiene course with a 60s throwback lecturer - sat by a Vicar's wife, with two guys from Pizza Shack and 3 other health workers - I have to admit that I was extremely naughty all day cos I was bored out of my brains talking about bacteria! I've passed though, so I can now safely give a patient a cup of tea and am hoping to be invited to Hampton Magna for a Vicar's tea party in the not too distant future!!
Good news for Rob - Alex's dad - he has got a brand new spanking job at the airport, which means he wont be guarding me on nights any more and the streets of St. Irchley will not feel as safe, but I'm really chuffed for him.
Have a good weekend folks

TGIF :-) 290906

Hi Friday peops
Hope you're all well? Aren't the nights are drawing in? Me n Sarah are getting earlier with our lakeside walks trying to beat the dark - we've changed route and we're practically jogging round determined to eke out the last few walks. Been to the gym once this week cos of lots of late finishes at work - good ol' Pasquale was there - so I didn't dangle off the equipment - in fact I worked quite hard and scored a 4 for effort - yippee dee doo - so I thought I deserved a Guinness when I got in - tho I'm not sure Pasquale would have approved :-)
The saga of the Entertainment Unit continues - the new one arrived after the old collapsed one was taken away - and there were two panels missing so after e-mailing Germany and having nein luck - I spent what seemed like hours on the phone to Argos pressing '1' for enquiries about current orders, '2' for orders that have arrived but are crap, '3' to speak to someone who has been trained to talk out of their bum hole - poor 'Maureen' - I mean I did apologise I know it wasn't Maureen's fault - but today Entertainment Unit 3 has arrived - I'll keep you posted. For start off, the instructions have a picture of one person crossed out and underneath there are two smiley people not crossed out - one lady, one man - so I presume it's a two person jobbie, which is a bummer cos I'm Scott-free now - yes - poor little sausage - he couldn't stand the pace - think all our late nights were interfering with his homework...... So nice to be free again - and on the plus side the neighbours have had a new light switch fitted and Helen's mum is having some work done - on the negative side I will have to continue having steamy baths cos he was going to put an extractor fan in for me - nut hey ho - steamy is good :-)
Interesting day yesterday doing manual handling training so that I know how to safely lift patients and loads.... has to be done otherwise we don't get a tick in the box - and the trainer was a jolly sort and was careful to ask us if we had any back or shoulder problems as we should not participate - however, she forgot to mention knees so when I unceremoniously stooped to pick up an empty plastic bin - I was stuck down there! Great.... The one 'young thing' who taught us with her crop top belly protruding all day was quite funny (unintentionally I think). She explained about a special handling belt with loops which can be fitted to patients to help offer them minimum support and allow them to feel more secure. She said one nursing home had missed half the lecture and gone out and brought a load for thinking they were designed for the staff to wear as lumber supports - and were allowing patients to hang on to all the loops and be led around the nursing home - and since there are 3 loops either side for optimum choice of where to grip, the staff could lead up to 6 clients at a time around the nursing home........ beggars belief - I hope it's an urban myth!!!
I'm off rambling in Staffordshire on Sunday at a place called Tittesworth - let's hope the knee fares better there.. Good news Wendy - hope Nat continues to make a good recovery from his op. Take care folks Kimmie x

Yo Friday peops
Had a lovely time at the SPICE Diamonds are Forever Ball last weekend - I went as 'Jaws' - kept flashing my crown - to distract from the lovely cold sore on the end of my snozzer! Despite that I still managed to attract a nice man to give us both a lift home. The headmistress surpassed herself and didn't fall asleep over dinner....... instead she saved herself for the Roulette table - and managed to drop off while still standing up - quite a feat - the next round of bets were on whether she would wake with a start and shout "HOUSE!" or just slide under the table..... I was asked out but totally wimped out at the last minute and had a bit of a guilt trip - but had some on line e-mail counselling - thank you Sarah and Garry :-/
I'm off to Barratts of Feckenham tomorrow to get myself some new feckin walking trousers - have finally admitted defeat - and going for size 14's as I'm off with the Golden Girls and Timmie next week to Arran (so no TGIF.. phew I hear you say). I'm looking forward to the break - work has been a bit poohy this week - big investigation - horse/bolt/gate jobbie if you get my drift! I also spent 2 days on a leadership course - now usually I'm quite cynical about these things, but actually the content was spot on - of course the proof will be in the pudding (incidentally the puddings there did not help with the walking trouser situation!) so we'll see. I've shared some of the things that I think were worth bringing back from the course - as I'm sure you'll be able to find use for them in your own places of work - let me know how you fare with them.
Have a fab Easter everyone - see you in 2 weeks

Hi Friday peops
Did you miss me? We welcome Wendy back into the TGIF fold (and baby Nathan) - at last a boy amongst you little breeders!
Well, it was lovely in Arran with the Golden Girls and Timmie and we met some other nice SPICERs too - and one complete plonker - Johnny (from another SPICE group of course). He chucked up all over the Hotel Reception register on Saturday night, and was still irritatingly skunked on Sunday morning when a group of us got the ferry to nearby Holy island - beautiful tranquil Buddhist retreat (http://www.holyisland.org/) where they asked us if we would kindly refrain from certain things like drinking alcohol, bonking and swearing (SPICE!!?!?).... anyway we had to smile when this rather sweet Buddhist gent who met us in his baggy Oxfam cardie ended up swearing after 5 minutes of greeting us - after meeting Johnny - plus we broke the other rule about not taking alcohol onto the island as we reckon Plonker was still at least 80 % proof! It was too cold and windy to do the other - so I have come back with rosy cheeks (facial).... nothing to do with the Arran whiskey distillery.... your honour.
Mommy and daddy have also been away with the little brother to Rutland Water - apparently the weather wasn't so kind - although they enjoyed themselves.
Thought I'd send some Scottish jokes - the first one is for the headmistress who couldn't rouse for Easter Sunday service on Arran as it was before the dawn chorus - and the last one is for Millie who wasn't sick on the ferry to be fair despite it being the best and wettest rollercoaster ride, but wasn't so hot on the coach trips - memories of Goat Fell wont be quite the same as for those of us who kept our breakfasts down.... (http://www.walkingworld.com/results/walksummary.asp?method=thirdpartyid&wlkno=1838)
Have a fab weekend - I'm off sketching around Meriden on Sunday - memories eh you Kiwis - I'm meeting some other pencil cases at the Bulls Head first!
Lesley - Simon G from QE is running in London Marathon on Sunday! Manda hope Rich does OK on his sims in Bangkok x Ro' and Chris - stay safe in Nepal - thinking of u x
Have a good un

Hi Friday peops
Spent a lovely relaxing day with SPICE "rambling with a sketch pad" - laaarf..... Julie took us to a riding stables - my attempts looked like pantomime horses - they kept turning so all I could see was their arses! Mind you had a better day than Millie who went on a different ramble and came home with a twig up hers! Then at Meriden Churchyard I didn't want to draw the church so I did the dead people instead - fell in love with one of the stones where Mr Thomas Balls had died in the 1800s - good job his name wasn't Harry.....Julie has grave concerns about my sketching now! I shall take my pencils to Snowdonia this weekend though and have another bash....
Tuesday I "helped out" at a wine tasting event - not the best of nights - our wine master was late having been stuck on the M6 - so in my haste to put out all the glasses niftily I smashed one to bits scattering glass everywhere and then confused people who thought they'd come to a knife throwing event when I tried to pass one over to poor Gary to slice his loaf - it flipped sideways and clocked someone - oops!
Mommy was 70 yesterday so we had a Bucks Fizz lunch - it's quite amazing how many candles you can get on a battenburg cake... then we went to see Miss Saigon - great choice Kim - how fabulous but how sad! The Dust of Life song really got to me!
Anyway, off to Snowdonia tomorrow and the weather looks promising so may get my legs out :-)
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend
PS Ro & Chris are fine in Nepal - so that's nice news

Hello Friday peops Had a lovely break in Snowdonia - managed to get off the beaten track a bit - and avoid the bank holiday ramblers - we passed Snowdon - and it was like Tesco's - heaving! The boys (as always) found us some lovely peaceful walks so I've picked up my first ramblers tan - lovely brown knees! Managed to splat only once - humongously loud belly flop onto a huge muddy boulder in a mountain stream - no harm done - the stream's flow is now redirected - I'm sure there's a term for the anatomical geographical alteration of the environment? Have felt a bit Bridget Jones-ish since I got back and tried to eat sensibly for the rest of the week after scarily squeezing into my walking gear and hearing the stitching groan at every step like those submarine films when the whole sub is breaking up! I was spurred on too when Sarah told me she was making all her own breakfasts with healthy yoghurt and fruit and felt quite proud of herself - not least because she was justifying the frightening amount of Tupperware she has accumulated! I went up yesterday evening to Earlswood and we pounded round the three lakes in 50 minutes - so we will be doing that again I reckon if there have been no local radio reports of earth tremors?. I'd get myself a personal trainer if I thought it would do any good - Sam down under has done very well with hers (go girl go!!). Weather is glorious here in Brum - but of course will change spectacularly when I join Millie and Tim for a bimble in Bourton on Sunday. Off to the Farmers market again tomorrow - don't worry shan't repeat the same boring joke...............because actually I've decided I don't want a farmer anyway............ Have a great weekend folks Kimmie x

Hello Friday peops

This is one week I'll be glad to see the back of - lots of shitty bitty things - and I know you're just dying to hear all about them.

Last weekend's relaxing Cotswolds ramble turned into a minor catastrophe after Tom Tom Sat Nav decided for a laugh that he'd take me an 'interesting' winding bumpity route along all the 'D' roads let alone B!! (Tim did say I could talk this one up - after he'd finished giving me that rolly eye blonde look!!). Anyway to cut a long wet story short Tom Tom (with John Cleese's voice) directed me to an impasse - a ford which looked more like a village pond - so flooded you couldn't see the ramp in or out! Three choices - reverse back up the windy bumpity road, or a 1:4 muddy track or the ford - I did what any good Risk Manager would do - I pretended I was in a four wheel drive and went for it - bumpity bump over the three foot boulders which had been washed down stream - and when I got to the other side and could hear a grating sound and with my little pink thing coughing and spluttering I got out all of a dither and fortunately only the number plate was half on and half off - she's still sulking mind you!

Had a better walk round Hatton on Tuesday night with SPICE and Earlswood with Sarah on Wednesday night - both filled with the beautiful smells of rapeseed fields and bluebells - much nicer!

Have tried painting the fence every opportunity - me and dad started last weekend with the sprayer - it effectively sprayed everything including me and dad and most of the plants! Each time I get geared up and the brush out it rains - so it's half done - so looks quite modern really. Last night though I brushed against my beautiful Acer and I'm not kidding a swarm of black fly landed all over me - I was in shorts and bikini top and they were making me itch like mad - and I forgot I'd got the loaded brush in my hand so (hope the neighbours didn't see) I was slapping 'Autumn Gold' all over me!

To round the week off nicely a bird crapped on my car yesterday - and managed to aim it perfectly to slide between the door and inside the car! I swear it was an ostrich the bloody amount!

Anyway I'm off to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo with mom tonight, and have Issie & Rob & the top violinist and fencer coming - if their extra curricular activities allow - and jut to get my own back on the bird world I'm doing ostrich stew!!!

Have a good un folks....

TGIF :-) 190506

Hi Friday peops

Bit better this week - no catastrooffes!!
Fabulous Saturday evening with Issie, Rob, Alex + Flips - with live entertainment between the courses! In between the crispy Boar pancetta, mango & cucumber starter, Alex played a 5 minute Einaudi piece on my piano - (waiting for the roasters y'see!!)... then after the Ostrich casserole and lemon pud we had a rendition of Massenet's Meditation on violin - with Flips making a very interesting mobile music stand - but what a mellow time...
Mom has treated me this week to an England thong, which Alex says is Chav! She should know being 17 - I'm sure it's only 'Chav' if you have it hanging out the tops of your jeans?.... which I shan't be doing.... yuk!
Got a last minute order for a wedding cake - which is taking the stress off a couple of lovely SPICE pals - so surrounded by mixed fruit soaking in brandy :-?
Walked round Waseley Country Park on Tuesday night and barricaded myself in for BB launch last night! Love a couple of the characters already - Pete (got Turets syndrome...) and Lisa - a seemingly 'genuine' Chinese girl... so there goes my summer. The frantic texting between Numpty and myself began in earnest - so 'Orange' will be getting their moneys worth!

Had this joke off Pat over the road last week - d'you remember the old days when neighbours would hang over the garden fence nattering - it's e-mail now.... :-D

Have a good weekend folks - off to Burton Dassett on Sunday walking..... if Tom Tom Sat Nav can find it!

Kimmie x

TGIF :-) 260506

Hi Friday peops

Well, apparently I've been outdone on the rain front - Lee (in New England, US) has had QUOTE..... " 12 inches of rain in 4 bloody days……..UNQUOTE....
So I suppose the fact that I'm now having to paint my fence panels half a foot a day and round my now full bushes is nothing in comparison - he's 90 feet above the river so OK - just a little damp.... whereas I'm fighting 9 feet of bush and soaked through - but I'll stop moaning ;-)
We had a slightly damp walk last Sunday around Burton Dassett near Oxfordshire - goodness knows what the trees were that we parked underneath but they were trashed when we got back!

We had a big visitor at work on Tuesday - Prof Aidan Halligan - Deputy Chief Medical Officer working for Dept of Health - anyway.... turns out he'd resigned his post on Monday - he was a genuine guy tho - and has only resigned cos he thinks the NHS reforms are not working and he doesn't want to be false - sound good guy eh?!!

My silver frock has arrived ready for the SPICE 25th birthday party in June - and I've lost 6lb so can get into the size 12 - wished I'd seen the courier put them through my letter box tho - they were still on the coathanger and protected like dry cleaners fully hung - so he must have had to post them through inch by inch!
Got the usual text frenzy going on with Heather, Numpty, Sarah B and mom - cos Big Brother has started - the usual mish mash of wannabees - that's the contestants not the texters....I'm liking the gay Canadian guy - Richard, Pete the Tourette's guy and Lisa the Chinese Mancunian....there are a couple of plonkers - the biggest being Nicky - do you remember those rubber dolls in the olden days you could put your fingers inside the back of their heads and contort their face? That's Nicky........... there is also one with £35,000 worth of knockers - also with a touch of the rubber face problem - who looks like my bro's wife - so that's not pleasant viewing for me either....

Well, off to try and do a bit more fence and washing before Sarah B arrives for a BB night in!

Off to Prague on Sunday with my Golden Girls - the headmistress has got us an itinerary - so if you are there and see a little row of middle aged gorgeous things walking across Wenceslas square in a 'school-style' crocodile - please say hello :-)

Have a great bank holiday weekend folks

TGIF :-) 020606

Hi Friday peops
Back from my 4 day 'stretch' in Prague - and ecstatic to be back in St.Irchley :-) It had some good points, the pavements, the food exquisite, the Gershwin 'Plink Plonk Plunk' played by a string quintet wonderful, the Charles Bridge band, the glass shops and the marionettes amazing....shame really - cos Prague has such potential to be so much better but I have never seen so many tourists being herded around and jostling for positions - and so Barcelona still holds the magic for me, city-wise.
Also... I note that if you take the PU out of Prague you get rage.... And so whilst you kept me in touch with Reality TV and the Big Brother news, goodness knows what my mobile bill will be like, I was having my own 'Reality check' and have to sadly announce that I have been booted out of the Big Sister House - but to be fair I managed a good length of stay - all things considered - I think - I mean my OCD and IBS can freak out the most patient of people, so I lasted till Tuesday night before I was told, by one of them that I was a 'Babe In Total Control of Herself'. It was all over the Monopoly money (Czech Kronas) - so it brought back happy memories of Monopoly games with my brother - and when I won those games, despite his own extensive personal loans from the Monopoly bank to himself.... he also used to acknowledge that I was a Babe In Total Control of Herself.... so I'm nothing if not consistent :-)
Sadly, not all people are blessed with the gift of directness, and can only manage subtle digs. I follow the Celestine Prophecy teachings though, and Ness sent me through an appropriate e-mail on Tuesday night - which I only picked up on my return - but everything in life is so perfectly timed isn't it? I felt a pang of real sadness while it was all going on, because I know how lonely it can be with one other person in the room, but to feel lonely with three is quite an experience. In the end it was easier to say nothing since the hole I seemed to be digging myself was getting deeper - yes folks - Kimmie quiet for two whole days!!!
I am going to Tutbury tomorrow to take part in a very obvious dig - an archaeological one - and feel ultimately prepared for it. This obviously means that after today there will be a reduction in numbers of my TGIF e-mails, however to show how proud I am to be in total control and direct I have copied them in for their swansong TGIF :-)
So, it's goodbye for now from the weakest link, but proudest B.I.T.C.H. x Have a good un folks
Jean - got your new address x Steve hope your shoulder is better - mom is being injected next week :-/ Happy tooth birthday Sammie - hope your little week down there has been good Jane - it's not too late to request a new roomie for Centre Parcs!!!

Hi Friday peops
Unbelievable weather isn't it? ... sorry Manda n' Rich who are a bit chilly, and soggy Lee - it's around 30 degrees here.... and I've got my lovely ramblers tan back - ankle sox and various criss cross patterns on my back - rounded off nicely with builders bum tan too - after last Saturday's archaeological dig at Tutbury Castle - brilliant fun but hard work! Found some animal bones, pottery and wattle and daub - which the archaeologist got excited about!
Finally finished the fence - like you care.......and put the trellis up too - got some bummer blisters on my palms though.
See photo.....
Dad's birthday on Tuesday on the 6th of the 6th - he managed to reach 75 after dying once this year - so pretty pleased with himself - we had a devil of a day at Burford House - lovely gardens - stood and watched the Damsel flies bonking over a little brook, and visited a nursery on the way back and got loads of lovely grasses and alpines. Mom's had her shoulder injected today - got a nasty rotator cuff injury - at least dad wont have to put up with all the clobberings for a while.....
Nice bimble round Knowle last night and then back to Oliphant's for my daily 5 portions - it's a pudding place - and I managed Rhubarb crumble, Chocolate brownie, apple pie, raspberry pavlova and bread and butter pudding! Hoping to walk a bit more off tonite as Sarah B is coming over for a Big Brother girlie eviction nite in - hopefully it's goodbye Sam for those of you out there who give a stuff....
Thought I'd share some Colemanballs with you as it's World cup.... Have a smashing weekend folks
Congrats Andy & Bex - I hear you became officially entwined on beautiful Bardsey? Wonderful news.....
Love Kimmie x

Hi Friday peops
Well, it seems like you too have exciting lives, and I'd like to share with the rest of you the lovely Owen's exciting news - he's managed to make his own wheelie bean - yes his broad beans are upwardly mobile now - in a wheelie plant container - well he is posh and from Hertfordshire.... I know Clive will like that one too, as he and Pat have their photos taken by wheelie bins on their holidays so they can show people when they've got back where they've 'wheelie been'..... honest - they do....I'll shut up now!
My little pink think gave me cause for concern this week as I could hear a horrible grating sound for about 2 days as I drove around.... listening intently so I could explain to the nice garage boys exactly what it sounded like....anyway, when I arrived in Clent the other evening for a SPICE bimble - Steve B pointed out my very flat back tyre - so turns out the noise was the wheel trim on the road....felt a bit girlie......oops! I only have one of those temporary wheels and that was flat too - and worst of all diarrhoea coloured - so she was not aesthetically pleasing - when the boys did their 'Penelope Pit stop' show - thankfully it was dark when I drove home! All sorted now :-)
Mom and dad have been dragged to the NEC garden show today by bro' - I hope they've taken a big trolley cos I have Clematis orders in and asked for lots of presents!
Looking forward to a sweaty hot weekend - baking wedding cakes and sorting birthday cake out. Shall be getting my Big Brother fix later - the mad text frenzy continues with the 'BB Four' every evening - and we're only a third of the way through I think! Eviction night tonight - Goodbye Grace..... Booooooooooo!!!!!!
Thought I'd share some more Colemanballs - Kevin Keegan's are funny - on the edge of my seat yesterday watching England - missing loads of opportunities - but then, hey life's like that! :-/
Have a good un folks

Hi folks
Weirdest week - at work snowed under with trying to explain the new electronic incident reporting system and risk register - which is not easy when you are not IT friendly - but typical NHS - giving these jobs to us blondes - who don't know the 'front end' or 'back end' of a web based system - and the biggest risk so far is that we all have the same password to use it!!! Hmmm...............

Today I was sitting with the Boss having my PDR on my KSF (or to other people in the outside world - CPD/IPR - y'know annual review ticky box jobbie....) - anyway was gazing round her to the traffic driving past so that I was suitably distracted thinking "What a load of balls...." when a lorry load of bells drove past... yes - honest - all dangling from a sort of scaffolding! So after three cups of coffee to keep me awake I flipped and the whole of my head followed my eyes to see round to get a closer look! How bizarre!
The lovely Owen in Herts. wants you all to know that his mobile runner beans have been joined by mobile tomatoes, sweet peppers, strawberries and French beans - I am even fortunate enough to have an exclusive photo - which I may send to Alan Titchmarsh. He also says people in Herts. don't watch Big Brother - I'll bet they are closet BBers!
I have finished the birthday cake for our Tone's mate - so he came to collect yesterday. I still have the wedding cake to finish on Monday - all ready to be stuck together which should be easy enough because everything in the house is sticking to everything else thanks to a fine film of icing sugar everywhere! It'll end in tiers I'm sure.
Anyway early e-mail cos off to Centre Parcs with a fab SPICE mate I met at new year - Jane - let's see if I can manage not to upset this one eh? Two of the ex-golden girls are going, which reminds me I must say congrats to Sue M - for meeting her Geordie boy Paul in Prague - and moving to Durham soon to be with him - well done you Sue! All I got in Prague was a cold shoulder (or three!) - so good to know it does have some positive memories for some! Got to get to CP early cos otherwise we'll end up in the kiddies bunk rooms.....Off to pack my best Bridgets now for the weekend - hope yours is a good 'un!
Oh, heard something interesting today - did you know that Camels chew in a 'figure of eight?........
Now hands up all those who tried doing it? I hope no one saw me in the car driving home listening to the radio doing it in my mirror!
Love Kimmie x

Hi Friday peops

Had a brilliant weekend at Centre Parcs - arrived at 11am to be told that I couldn't get into the chalet till 3pm - disaster - I was on an undercover mission to get the only twin bedroom so me and Jane didn't end up in bunks -so hooked bike off car and pelted round faster than the Tour de France yellow vest to the chalet and gave the cleaner my saddest doe eyes and managed to wangle my way in and snaffle the twin - yeehaa!!

Our chalet roomies were superb - Andy was 'Peter Kay' so kept us laughing all weekend with his dry one-liners. Johno was/is Manchester's SPICE Social events co-ordinator - and made a mean vodka jelly but had crap taste in CDs - so we hid them. Me and Donna cycled back from the various Friday night parties - bad idea - still got the bruises.... Mike spent all weekend trying to teach me to talk 'Manchestaw'! and there was Moira - the quieter pretty one.

Jane dragged me to play badminton - and tho I'm hopeless shuttling the cocks, I had a great time. Volleyball was another matter. Jane decided to enter us into a game - despite me being not appropriately supported on the boob front... and I have more respect now for those babes who play beach volleyball in the Olympics - cos I just looked like Dick Emery running round falling over and running into the net - with my snozzer catching in it! The grand slam of the volleyball tournament was when I ran into a man tower and I was suspended for 5 seconds in mid air like a Tom and Jerry cartoon before crashing to the sand in a belly flop!

Saturday night party - silver theme - everyone made a huge effort - Jane got me some long silver eyelashes which I fluttered at a guy from Manchester called Mark - poor thing he was blown away with the backdraft! We all had a very early morning to bed - Jane and Mike had the brilliant idea of going off for a dawn picnic of Vodka shots!!

Mark came down to Brum and I've shown him the delights of the Lickey Hills today!! He is coming down to go eating and drinking at Cannon Hill with Heather, Sarah and me next Friday.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Yes, I know I’m late… Hello Friday peops,
Bit of a wild start to the new year with highs and lows.
Had a fab time in Borrowdale with my Golden Girls, and even work wasn’t too bad, but on the 12th day of Christmas I’m afraid things went a bit pear shaped!
For those of you who know (and still know…. I’ll add quickly) my lovely mad dad, and how he can regale you with stories of his electrician days when he was always shocking himself, well, he received a few shocks yesterday that hopefully he’ll never remember - but unfortunately my mom will.
I wont bore you with the whole story - just the ‘low’ highlights… mom queen of texters texted me at work to say she had called 999 as his angina pains were not going away - turns out he was having a heart attack and when the ambulance man (Carl) arrived my dad decided to go the whole hog and have a full cardiac arrest and needed to be shocked back. Mom was having to help cos Carl was on his own, so she was holding oxygen mask over his apparently purple face while Carl was pumping away. She was told to move away while Carl shocked him about 4 times and that’s when she amazingly managed to text me to "Come home" . By the time I got there a very frightened and grey (never his best colour) daddy was being carried out by the now 3 ambulance people - mom's road was blocked with the 2 ambulances so I drove my little pink thing up most of the pavement! In a nutshell, after a brief stay at Resus’ A&E in Selly Oak with my favourite and bestest Consultant Peter he was taken to QE where another top notch doc John put a state of the art stent in and would you believe it the bugger was fine by the evening - pink cheeks again - and even managed fish and chips despite having badly bitten his tongue when he arrested. He was rather incredulous at what had happened - and I reckon he’ll dine out on this one for a long time!.
Suffice to say, me and mom are fine(ish) - I’m staying with her at mo - and just to let you all know if ever there is a large attack of any kind in the UK, you must all assemble at her house because I’ve discovered mom has enough toilet rolls in the bathroom to wipe a whole army’s bums! I think she is secretly working for MI5 and that the SAS are probably planning to use the house as a base as all the cupboards are also stocked up with enough food to feed three regiments….
I’m really conscious though that despite all this happening here that a lot of you out there have your own worries, and some real recent losses - Kirbs and Sue - and I want to say that it’s been a real boon to have the kindest messages from you all - despite the fact that you have your own worries - so thanks.
The funniest texts were off sike this it does help… At Christmas she sent a text Saying "Happy Easter from all at the Alzheimner’s Society and all the best for 1982" despite her late mom suffering with this, and when I told her what had happened she asked if dad had been straddled across the gurney like ER and whether they had left the paddles to play with - fair play Kirbs!!!
My new Hartlepudlian boy is being sorely tested - we had to call off a meeting last week as he was really poorly, and now all this - I’m hoping at the end of all this if he sticks it out with me (not biblically speaking of course) that we can meet up and carry on having the laughs we have already had.
I have also told dad that if he is going to go I’d prefer it to be Monday as I like Fridays as you all know but have never been keen on Mondays - he’s going to see what he can do.

TGIF :-) 130106

Hi Friday peops
Normal service resumed…..first important update - dad is fine - discharged on Wednesday evening - who can believe it’s one week since all of that?
It seems a life time ago. Bit of a scary rollercoaster ride - but all is well in the Huddy household once more.
Fortunately dad cannot remember anything much about the heart attack and nothing of the cardiac arrest - and it all seems a bit unreal now for me and mom.
He has been really chuffed about all the sincere and sometimes really funny transatlantic/country/city/over the road phone calls and e-mails - so the hugest thank you’s to Lee (US) Manda (NZ) Stella (over the road), Loydey (DK), Sharpie, Ellsons, Ro' (Nepal), Nessa, Paul, Sarah, Tone, Marge, Issie, Paula (Ecuador), Sammy (NZ), Anne, Sean & Sue, Dekkers, both Lisa’s, and my Golden Girls…… for the good wishes which he received.
Got the good old Hartlepudlian boy ‘Post Two Date Dumping’ on the same evening as I dropped dad off home - don’t suppose there is ever perfect timing for these things - all a bit strange - he has returned to his ex girlfriend who he went out with for 3 months 15 months ago….. hmmmm…. shame….. cos I’d got him a nice bar of Kendal mint cake from the Lake District - now all safely deposited on my thighs :-)
Yet, in true Bridget Jones fashion, I will have all the Kendal mint cake sucked away by the hypnotic powers of the Paul McKenna CD which I am playing every night…
Bit of nice news though was that one of the guys who I chatted with on a Dating site, but never got round to meeting - Paul - spent a lovely romantic Paris Christmas together with the girl he met last year at work - Liz - it’s great that he still keeps in touch - he sounds happy - and I know these sites work as Millie has her Timmie.
Have a lovely weekend everyone

TGIF :-) 200106
Hi Friday peops

What a difference two weeks makes eh? Still can’t believe so much has happened… and not only to me it seems.
Millie sadly lost her brother Philip last weekend, and Stella over the road lost one of her cats Betty yesterday, and a work colleague is waiting for a scan on his one remaining kidney after having the other removed for the big C a few years ago – mind you when he told me he’d had his kidney and urethra removed, and I was like full of sympathy (as you would be) and cringing at the thought – but bless – his anatomical descriptions were null and void and it turned out it was his ureter – so thank goodness he does still have a willy – so once I sussed that out I told him that things aren’t all bad after all!
I thought I was fairly ‘back to normal’ after all that has happened (for me anyway…..) and was well chuffed that I’d coped well with a fairly hectic work schedule – and made a healthy start on my assignment – so hey brain cells working – back to normal - yay :-)
Anyway, had my hopes of all that dashed last night after having a complete ‘blonde’ moment in a local car wash I’d never used before…… pleased with myself that I remembered to remove the umpteenth roof aerial before I entered the swirly brush zone….
Sat there, I hate these bloody things anyway – KERCHUNK…… WHIRL….. WHOOSH…. heading towards my wind screen – and then I thought the swirly brush on the right seemed nearer than the swirly brush on the left… BUGGER! Pops my little pink think into reverse to straighten her up and tweak her over to the left swirly brush, and slowly reverse – but at the same speed as the swirly brushes, so I’m practically exiting the car wash in reverse – but unaware cos I’m watching the brushes and not realising that I’m actually moving….. suddenly realise what I am doing so move forwards again, but am not sure whether I’m too far forward as I’ve gone so far back so for the next few minutes am driving backwards and forwards in the car wash and hoping to goodness I’ll get out alive with my wind screen and mirrors (and dignity) intact.
Windscreen and mirrors = yes, Dignity = no
Dad’s ok – but he’s got a lot to answer for!

Have a lovely weekend

Hi Friday peops
Had my own private Burns night celebrations on Wednesday - treated myself to Haggis - and then shocked my colleagues the next day by having the leftovers in a toasted sandwich J… gorgeous if you haven’t tried it!
Been spending the evenings catching up with my assignment - which is due by the end of February - very exciting stuff - decontamination - there’s only so much you can write about dirt before you send yourself to sleep mind you.
Dad is still doing well - you can imagine how pleased he is to have survived so he hasn’t missed the latest Celebrity Big Brother!!! :-/ What a gross bunch this year - mind you because I’m so sad I am going to watch the final tonight to take my mind off how I’m going to spend tomorrow celebrating winning the £105 million on Euro lottery. I won £7.30 last week - they do take the pee when you do it on line - you get an e-mail with the subject title: "Exciting news about your lottery ticket!" and you are beside yourself logging on….and it’s £7.30. Mind you, out of the kindness of my heart I texted everybody and offered to share it. It’d be better this week if everyone got more than 8p though.
I’m doing that Paul McKenna thing - got the book and watch him on Sky One - and go to sleep every night listening to his CD - telling me to look in the mirror and love myself……so I had to smile when I saw this joke…..
Have a brilliant weekend folks - I’m off to the Headmistresses for a sleepover with the girls - anything to stop me going stir crazy with this dirty assignment!

Whoosh!
Still not got a real life in the outside world yet - am still burning the midnight oil on my dirty assignment! A touch of writers block meant I only managed 36 words last night - oops! The Golden Girls helped me escape last weekend for a brief moment - well I say brief, we had a gorgeous beef casserole cooked by the Junior Headmistress on Saturday evening and then on Sunday the Nursery Headmistress led us round Sutton Park using her guide to 'clear the cobwebs'... well, Iwasn't concentrating - one pool is much like any other - and what with half of us wearing bifocals.... Kidding girls..... it was great! Finished the week off by winding the boss up like a tightly coiled spring, always a joy to behold, and failed my work colleague miserably by forgetting to poke her with a pen (as promised) in one of our typical Friday afternoon zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... meetings! Oh yes, and this week I have been winked at on my site by someone who lookshalf decent from Worcestershire, so place your bets ladies and gentleman these are the odds....against him not really being separated..............little willy..............barking mad..................not sure of his gender............I could go on, but like mom says at least I can get on with my assignment - nothing like a bit of encouragement is there? :)We have to say goodbye to the City crowd on TGIF- as their IT bosses are stopping them from sending or receiving private e-mails at work -so this is the last one to Jas, Renu, and Loz - bye girls..... though Margie and Shirl will still be there.
Keep smiling folks
Kimmie x

Hi Friday peops
Short working week cos the first two days were spent working on my dirty assignment - up to 6500 words now - only 1500 more to go! Daddy decided to flip back into a funny rhythm this week which spooked him a bit, but he's been for an 'Impromptu brother arranged emergency out patients' check and he's ok - apparently a rare occurrence after a heart attack - typical dad!Other than that - nothing to report - last week's winker drifted off with a feeble excuse that my e-mails were getting bounced as Spam and that was why he hadn't responded blah blah - anyway so all those who placed bets lost - as even I hadn't considered that one! This week's winker is a fell runner from Telford - very nice legs and cool beanie, and we've been chatting a lot on MSN and he seems really nice and dare I say 'normal' so place your bets again ladies and gentlemain.....they're probably not really his legs...................he'll be barking mad................... or has server problems which bounces e-mails as Spam...............he's after a fitter bird to run with him........
Happy remainder of your birthday Lisa W aka Numpty One.. Hope you ok over there in Nepal Ro and Chris? Maybe see you Monday Sarah B?

Hi Friday peops
Well, fruitful week - have finished my assignment - all 9300 words of it - yeeeehaaaa! ….and what a profound discovery I made - I find out that the Medical Devices Directive that I have been unravelling and trying to interpret the gobbledygook for the last few weeks was written by our wonderful friends in Europe who apparently also managed to write a 26,000 word document on the export of duck eggs! Needless to say my conclusion reflected this! Oh yes and then I discover that the Loughborough University Central Records Administration for Personnel (abbreviated to CRAP!) got the wordage count wrong - and I need only have done 6000 - bit of a change from the original 12,000 words I was told via e-mail by ‘He who knows nothing’ . Needless to say if am forced to reduce the word count I have decided to take out all words beginning with P - for prat, pathetic, pompous, pillock, pig lover…………………….
I suppose I must sound bitter, and maybe it’s because it’s Valentine week - and all I get is a fake E-card and three winkers - and an invite to Copenhagen as long as I go Dutch - well - I’ve declined all the pseudo-sympathetic offers of luuuuurve and will endeavour to stay strong! (LAAAAUGHHHH!!!!!!!)
Took Numpty One and a colleague Ann out to lunch today to celebrate Numpty’s 42nd to a nice new bar in Moseley - and first off we had difficulty climbing up onto the bar stools - and when we did they were too heavy to drag to the table - so a true test of our bras - three middle aged women bobbing up and down shuffling towards the table - Numpty losing her shoe and having to scale down the chair again to get it!
It’s Philip’s 13th birthday tomorrow - so both Alex and Flips both in their teens - must be lovely and peaceful for Issie and Rob ;-) Off to Symphony Hall on Sunday to hear the virtuoso Alex play in concert again - so looking forward to that.
Have a fab weekend folks - I know I’m going to - and look out Steve D - I may be doing one of your walks soon to get back into the swing ready for the mountains of Arran!

Hi Friday peops
Funny old week at work…. Boss has been getting all excited for weeks as she planned for a visit from Aidan Halligan (who? I hear you ask?) Deputy Chief Medical Officer Department of Health – along with all the great and the good….. anyway little case of bird flu and personal stuff..….has kept him from coming so all the lovely cucumber sandwiches – Gone!. The hysterical laughter around the place when news spread around was a little disconcerting – but also quite amusing – I mean…. how easily impressed we all are! Mind you not me as I declined being one of the ‘Showers arounders’ as I mentioned I might just let slip how I felt about the NHS in general – what with cutting my salary……needless to say she let me off!
I’ve had to go and give my dentist bank details this afternoon cos they’re all going private thanks to Tony B’s unrealistic pricing policies. Figured it was better to do that rather than risk facing arrest by queuing outside an NHS dentist – as Tony doesn’t allow that any more. Mind you NHS dentists seem as rare as hen’s teeth these days…..and you think democracy is rough in Nepal Ro!!!!!
Mommy Wickles is 80 today – that’s one of my neighbours from when I was lickle – I used to call her ‘mommy’ so I apparently had to add the surname to make sure I ended up in the right house with the right mummy at the end of the day!? Sarah B’s birthday this week too – 21 again I believe? And of course it was Philip’s 13th last weekend – I popped up to see him and deliver his birthday cake and left pretty swiftly when he got his foil out and was waving it about! Honestly you’d think mommy and daddy could have got him a chess set or something! Hopefully he will be a champion fencer one day. Sunday was fabulous too – watching his big sister Alex playing for the CBSO youth orchestra – Elgar’s Enigma variations - with the CBSO conductor no less! His name escapes me – he’s a Fin – sounds like Origami – in dire need of Trinnie and Susannah makeover – I think his trouser variations were quite distracting – you know what I mean – pulled up under his chest like Simon Cowell. Conductors should have nice trousers and good bums – if that’s what the audience have to sit and watch!
Have a great weekend folks – snowy here this morning you down unders and across and right a bits – just in case you were wondering!

Hello Friday peops

Had an OK week – hope you all have. It’s nice having my life back! Apparently I’ve passed my assignment – 76% - so that’s out of the way now – and never more to grace Loughborough’s corridors and see the weasel – wonderful!
Went to see ‘My Fair Lady’ at Crescent Theatre on Wednesday – preceded by a posh dinner at City inn – one of our Occupational Therapists at work was ‘Professor Henry Higgins’– lots of people from work went to see him over the week – and we are all looking forward to seeing him around at work again next week so he can serenade us down the corridors – he sang ‘Why can’t women be more like men?’ so well – he was utterly pompously fabulous! I’m more like Eliza Dolittle before Henry Higgins turned her eloquent!
Not much more to report this week – dad is spotty – he’s either developed an allergy to mom or has shingles again – which would be just plain greedy and attention seeking if you ask me. Bummer!
Off to walk round Edgehill on Sunday with one of the Golden Girls – and Timmie – so looking forward to wearing my snuggly rainbow Mohican hat.
Happy Birthday for Sunday Faith J. Congratulations on getting the school of your choice with all your friends Cherise!

Hi Friday peops

It’s been a slow news week at work – well, unless you count the fact that the NHS is so overspent, it is collapsing inwards and sucking everybody into the big black hole of despair – nothing new there then. No major incidents – except that the new electronic incident reporting system has crashed – we’d report it…….but we can’t! :-)
Had a great walk last weekend with SPICE in the hillocks – thank goodness Timmie and Millie went – the other two Golden Girls (Timmie is our honorary Golden Boy) had pathetic excuses – but they’re like that sometimes! I say thank goodness, because it was like a ‘nutter on the bus’ day – I keep saying I wont give people lifts – and I keep letting myself down… poor thing, well in all fairness she has lost her SAS boyfriend in Iraq, her SBS father in Vietnam, so I guess she has a right to be barking….was handy having her on the walk though – a wealth of information – did you know that if a glider can go faster than a Jet Provost? No… nor me….. and she could even tell how long a deer had been dead for by the state of it’s eye sockets – how SPICE have ever managed without her on their nature treks I’ll never know! Needless to say my alcohol-free week went by the board that very same evening….
Family-wise – dad is getting spottier and rashier by the minute? Cousin Andrew has had a lump removed from his neck – his loving niece reckons it was his head….but is keeping me informed of his every movement since the op – yes the painkillers have bunged him up – poor thing…. and another distant cousin is about to drop a sprog – but it has gone on strike and turned the wrong way up so it’s bound to be a boy!

Hope you have a great weekend – I’m off for a whole week now – which’ll be nice for my work colleagues!!
Keep everything crossed for one of our Friday crowd – the lovely Owen – he has a job interview next week - him and Numpties 1 and 3 kept me sane at Loughborough!

Hi Friday peops
Lovely week away from the crumbling NHS – not even sure if it will still be there when I get back – hearing the news about a thousand jobs going in North Staffs NHS – but has anyone mentioned anything about ‘Dur management’ being amongst those? No? I thought not.
I did mostly what girlies do best – spending….. Ikea trip – mom beat me – I managed to spend under twenty! I got a nice Brazilian – we’ll say no more – grass. My bestest buy is a bit girlie too – a pack of mini glass dishes – too small even to put a tealight in – but I fell in love and now need to find a use for them :-)
Also went to Studley Papercraft – got a few more crafty things – so we are now saving any envelopes with pretty patterns inside cos mom is going to have a go at Iris folding – hmmmm – don’t ask – I’m not sure – but it’ll keep her out of trouble. Managed to find 3 nurseries on the way home so have got all my hanging basket stuff too – ready for dad to create his show stoppers for me – so I can padlock them to my frontage – lovely neighbourhood y’see!.
Managed to meet up with a friend I’ve not seen in a while – the lovely John – who hopefully if I’ve got his addie right is part of the Friday crowd again (at his own request!) He has been brave and left behind the NHS and opened a gorgeous ‘posh’ delicatessen called ‘Fromage et al’ 160 Stratford Road with cheeses, jams, nuts and stuff in Shirley – so all you cheeseaholics and posh bods - it’s well worth a look. I got some gorgeous cheeses – so Gary you can sit with me next time……. you’ll love my Stinking Bishop – mind you I was cursing John when I could still smell it on my fingers at 10 o’clock last night – at least I hope it was the Stinking Bishop! Needless to say – I now need to go to Touchwood on Sunday to get myself a posh pong retaining cheese keeper from Lakeland! I also got myself what must be the poshest fig in the World – £4.95 for ONE fig – a Calabrian baked fig – looks very interesting – it’s twice baked and wrapped in fig leaves – sounds delish.
Today we spent a chilly hour visiting the National Trust ‘Back to Backs’ in Brum City Centre – brilliant - fortunate cos there was a group of 10 – and the old ‘uns all had a bit extra to add to the occasion – and the guide was really enthusiastic – so again – if you’re at a loose end – it’s a fab way to kill a couple of hours.
Off to Hatton tomorrow for a chilly walk with Stevey D – see you there Stevey – I need to walk off all the pub lunches I’ve had this week so work me hard!
Have a fab weekend folks – Congrats Owen for re-entering the NHS at such an interesting time :-/ ! Ness – hope you have a nice week in the lakes and a job to come back to – bless the NHS and all who are slowly sinking in her eh? Happy St Paddy’s day Matt – I guess you’ll be nursing a hangover until at least Wednesday?

Hi Friday peops
Had a great (but freezing) walk last weekend with Stevey D round Hatton Locks - a fellow SPICER rode up on his bike and stopped alongside us for a chat - and then sped off and met a cyclist coming the other way - attempted a 'flying bike ET' manoeuvre and ended up in the canal! Good job there were two of us nurses there - cos we must be the only people who could get away with demanding he removed all his clothes and dressed him in various bits of spare! We asked the other guy (who was a gorgeous thing in Ron Hills - you know what I mean girls....they can be fugly and still be gorgeous if they are wearing Ron Hill's!) to take his clothes off too - but he refused - mind you he hadn't fallen in the canal .....

Two more Lucy's born this week - one is Kirby's new grand daughter and the other is my Cousin's Dean & Karen's - so lots of excited texts and photos being bounced around - also had a new shot of Lucy in Kiwi land - with little brother Sam - so a week of Lucy's! Are there any more I haven't heard about?

Hope you all have a fab weekend - especially all you Mothers - hope you get spoiled this weekend for Mother's Day. I've spoiled mine with a special 'laughing cat' card - which says "I'm smiling because you're my mum... and below it says.... and I'm laughing because there's nothing you can do about it!"

TGIF :-) 310306

Honestly, You sensitive lot - for the people whose PCs I crashed due to the gorgeous new baby photos - am I bothered.....get broadband! For my 'Golden Girl' who got all upset cos I got one baby's name wrong - what am I supposed to do when they all begin with 'L' and I have the attention span of a gnat cos really I'm not bothered! So this is a formal apology to LILY and Kirbs.... only got two letters wrong if you're going to be picky! It's been a pooh week - last weekend they had sold out of farmers AGAIN by the time I got to the Farmer's market, so I've had to make do with ostrich again. I tried to relax in the brine pool with the headmistress on Sunday but my scabby snozzer and the brine were not conducive to a restful hour. Tuesday was moderately better with a nice muddy torchlit evening ramble round Earlswood Lake - and Sarah B (Old SPICE) joined us in the Red Lion after for a natter. This weekend I am going with the headmistress to the SPICE Diamonds are Forever Ball - I'm not hopeful about pulling because I'm hanging out of all me frocks like a Pre-Raphaelite slobette - mind you might attract a bit of attention and detract from my snozzer if I wear as much as they did... hmm good thought...... oh yes, and the other reason is I'm just going to enjoy myself and the thought of attracting a man thing whilst I'm having such a fun time with my snozzer is distinctly unappealing - and the telly is quite good at the moment too. On a serious note, have heard a couple of things this week about new speed cameras on the M42 - not sure how true it is - but thought I'd pass it on anyway: Between junctions 3b and 7, they are going live from April - and are hidden and only have a lee way of 2mph?. First you'll know is a fine through the post! Personally I drive my little pink thing at the right speed at all times - because I don't like the farting noise she makes when I take her over 100mph......Have a Happy April fools weekend
